"Written to myself after wondering one day, "Why am I feeling so burnt out?"
"Rouge Wave"
Mark 6:31-37
'And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.
Absolutely drained! We have diminished focus and are in need of rest.
Life has it's challenges. Our careers and our commitments have driven us so hard, that our effectiveness suffers and is in dire need to be refueled.
'It's called, "No rest for the weary"
And it what allows our minds and thoughts to come off course, our compass' to spin,
soon we look up and the boat we are sailing has gone adrift.
If we're fortunate, we enter into a "Dead Calm" at least there we can pause to take a breath. But if not, the seas are not always easily navigated, and from nowhere can come stormy weather!
And now is when you are most certainly blessed, if you're not overcome by the "Rouge Wave" that has come to topple your boat, possibly even destroy your life!
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy" John 10:10
You know it happens. You have been there before. Apparently you know it yet ignore the signs, if you even knew what they were.
Colossians 3:3 ESV
"For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."
Remember dying to the life you once lived?
Now its time to die to those thoughts that led you off course.
Maybe pause for a minute and look up... Put your mind on the things above and remember your heart and soul are tucked away and hidden safely with Christ.
[32] And they went away in the boat to a desolate place by themselves.
Are you seeking rest and spiritual solitude, trusting God to renew your mind and heart, strengthen you, and spiritual life? God is found in the silence of desolate places.
Heavenly Father, remind me of the rest I need and the time I need to spend with You alone before I encounter any stormy seas.
Let me hear You speak to my heart and remind me that my freedom was paid in full by the One who brings me peace. Take me to the place where peace meets freedom and renew my mind with Jesus.

God’s presence in these 'desolate places' can transform weariness into peace, and anxiety into freedom. It's also valuable to learn from the warning of the "Rouge Wave"—unseen and powerful disruptions that threaten to overturn us. By acknowledging the spiritual battles that come without warning, we stay vigilant and prepared to turn to God’s strength. Prayer becomes an anchor, helping us navigate the storms and maintain steady course. Finally, the reminder from John 10:10 that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy highlights the importance of guarding our spiritual well-being. We must protect our hearts by nurturing our relationship with Christ, who offers life abundantly.
