We're Not on a "Grace Timer"
Think about the last time you tried to learn something new... learning to follow Jesus while being sanctified isn't an easy task either. We will probably mess up a bunch of times, right? We can't master it on the first try. We need practice.
Sometimes in life, especially when we're trying to figure things out, we make mistakes. A lot of mistakes. And it's easy to get down on ourselves. We feel guilty, frustrated, and start worrying, "Is God tired of my mess-ups? Is He going to run out of patience?"
We feel like we have to learn at 100 mph, and if we slow down or trip up, we’re failing the ultimate test. That feeling of guilt? That’s like a negative filter messing with our perspective.
Here’s the game-changer: God is not like us.
He doesn't get "better" at being patient. He doesn't need to practice mercy. He is perfect patience and endless mercy, all the time.
He doesn't change his mind about us. Whether we've caught on to a lesson right away or we're still working on the same thing for the tenth time, His grace is constant.
There’s no "consequence" for our pace. We aren't on a spiritual stopwatch.
So when that worry creeps in, remember this truth: we can't out-fail God's grace. His love isn't something we have to earn by being a fast learner or mistake-free. It’s a gift that never runs out. Relax, take a deep breath, and keep learning and growing at your own speed—He's got you.
Lamentations 3:22-23: "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness".
