THE DOOR KICKER’S GUIDE TO HOLY WAITING"
THE DOOR KICKER’S GUIDE TO HOLY WAITING"
Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord." — Psalm 27:14
⚔️ The Battle is on the Horizon
Imagine standing on a literal battlefield. Enemies surround you.Arrows fly.The heat of conflict is suffocating.
Then, a command echoes from the Captain of your soul: "Wait."
It feels absurd. It feels like a death sentence.
To our human instinct, waiting looks exactly like doing nothing. It feels like paralyzing fear, confusion, and surrender.
When facing modern battles—anxiety, a crumbling project, an impossible relationship, or a dead-end situation—our internal dialogue screams for action:
"This needs to be fixed right now! What am I supposed to do... sit here and watch flowers grow? Curl my eyebrows, maybe?"
Before I truly encountered Jesus, that was my exact response.
🚪 The "Door Kicker" Mentality
My default mode was the "Door Kicker."
If a door was locked, I didn’t wait for a key.
I grabbed the battering ram of my own cleverness, manipulation, and hustle.
I forced it open through sheer willpower.
The result?
Exhaustion.
Deeper anxiety.
A trail of shattered intentions.
A situation made ten times worse.
🪢 The Secret is in the Rope
Holy waiting is not passive paralysis.
In the original Hebrew language, the word David uses for wait is qavah.
It means to bind together. To twist like strands of a heavy rope.To eagerly, actively expect.
Waiting on God is not sitting on your hands. It is the active process of weaving your weak, trembling heart into His unshakable strength.
It is confidently walking forward in the quiet, fierce expectation that God is moving behind the scenes, even when the stage looks completely dark.
He is clearing paths, shifting obstacles, and altering human hearts in ways we could never manufacture on our own.
🧩 Instruments vs. The Ultimate Solution
Does this mean we reject practical wisdom or ignore the people trying to help us?
Absolutely not.
God often channels His grace through the hands of others. But human support is a tool, not a savior.
Other people can offer resources, but they cannot grant you supernatural peace. They cannot heal your hidden trauma.
The divine balance is simple: carry out your daily responsibilities, but hold your execution strategies loosely.
Wake up, do your job, love your family—but leave the results completely in God's hands. Anchor your hope in His sovereignty, not your own cleverness.
🦅 The Eleventh-Hour Specialty
Scripture reveals a beautiful pattern: God consistently waits until human options are completely exhausted before He steps onto the scene.
He allows the brook to dry up.He lets the storm reach a crescendo.
He waits until our "I can't do this anymore" moments take over.
He does this so that when the breakthrough finally explodes into reality, there is absolutely no doubt who did it. Rescuing the weary is His absolute signature move.
As Isaiah 40:31 promises, those who qavah—those who bind themselves tightly to the Lord—will exchange their exhaustion for His supernatural power. They will mount up with wings like eagles.
🛑 Step Away from the Door
Take your foot off.
Stop kicking.
Bind your heart to the King, and watch Him move.

Lord, forgive me for relying on my own strength. Today, I choose to qavah and wait on your perfect timing. I release the results to you. Amen.
