📖 The Scribe Who Miscalculated
🛑 STOP CHASING THE SPOTLIGHT IF YOU ARE NOT READY FOR THE CROSS.
🛑We love the miracles. We love the hype. We love being on the "winning side."But the moment Jesus asks for total surrender?Suddenly, the comment section goes completely silent.
📖 The Scribe Who Miscalculated
In Matthew 8:19, a scribe runs up to Jesus. He is completely hyped. He says, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go!"
This man was intoxicated by the power.
He saw the crowd. He saw the fame. He wanted the prestige of the Kingdom.
But he was entirely blind to the poverty of the journey.
Jesus instantly grounds his romanticized, emotional view of faith with a jarring reality check:
"Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head." (Matthew 8:20)
Let that sink in.
The God of the universe lived as a homeless nomad.
🦊 The Instinct vs. The Calling
Think about the contrast Jesus is making here.
Foxes have holes.
Birds have nests.
Wild animals move by pure instinct. They carry the blueprint of their habitat in their DNA. They always know how to return home.
But humanity? We were created for something radically different.
You were not designed to find ultimate rest in:
An earthly zip code.
A brick-and-mortar house.
A comfortable bank account.
You were created to be the eternal companion of God.
He didn't give us temporary earthly estates to anchor our souls. Instead, He encoded our spirit with a spiritual homing instinct. He left us the testimonials of the saints, the evidence of creation, and the infallible manual of His Word to guide us back to Him.
⚖️ The Ultimate Risk vs. Reward
Following Jesus is a high-stakes calculation.
To the world, choosing Christ looks like the ultimate risk.
It means forfeiting your autonomy.
It means disrupting your comfort.
It means letting the "dead bury their own dead" (Matthew 8:22).
It means severing ties with cultural obligations and worldly safety nets the exact second they compete with His voice.
But what is the reward?
An existence exponentially better than the finest life this world can construct.
Be clear: even if you are perfectly comfortable today—healthy, wealthy, and unlabored—earthly stability is an illusion.
This world is a "Crazy Train" heading straight to the end of the tracks. And its final destination is wreckage. The true risk is not choosing the radical, nomadic path of Christ.
The true risk is remaining comfortably asleep inside a burning house.
🔥Forfeit the false security of the world's nests and holes. Your true home is not a place you build. It is a Savior you follow.
🙏 A Prayer For The Radical Path
Lord, wake me up from the illusion of worldly safety. Forgive me for chasing Your blessings while running from Your cross. Empty my heart of the desire for earthly prestige, and anchor my soul deep into Your eternal Kingdom. I give up my false comfort to follow You completely. In Jesus' name, Amen.
