Completing a doctoral degree is a life-changing experience that brings both challenges and immense satisfaction. My journey at USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy (OSOT) was truly transformative. The three years I spent pursuing my doctorate felt intense at times, with countless hours dedicated to my capstone project, coursework, and clinical experiences. Yet, each step was incredibly rewarding. One of the biggest challenges I faced was maintaining motivation throughout the program. Graduate school demands resilience and self-discipline because the workload can be overwhelming. What helped me the most was setting small, achievable goals and celebrating the progress I made, no matter how minor it seemed. Having a strong support system, including peers and faculty at USC, also played a crucial role in helping me persevere and thrive. Walking across the stage to officially earn my doctorate was an emotional moment — a mix of relief, pride, and gratitude. Reflecting on the time when I first applied, I never imagined I would make it through all the hard work and obstacles. This milestone symbolizes not just academic success but personal growth and the reaffirmation of my passion for occupational therapy. For those currently on their graduate journey or considering embarking on one, remember that the path is challenging but achievable. Embrace every experience, lean on your community, and stay focused on your goals. Earning a doctorate opens doors to exciting career opportunities, advanced clinical skills, and a platform to make a meaningful impact in healthcare. My experience at USC has prepared me well, and I’m excited to see what the future holds. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way — your encouragement made all the difference!
