A secret museum. Hidden in Wollaton Park. 🇬🇧🌲

After talking about Wollaton Park in another post, I couldn't help but mention a "secret museum" that few people would know and visit, frankly saying... that I met here because I was lost, but when I walked in, I was more impressed than I thought.

The museum is called Nottingham Industrial Museum, a museum that collects objects and machines from the industrial era of Nottingham. There are many vintage items such as

Vintage cars, vintage motorcycles and bicycles, industrial sewing machines, old watches, Morse code transmitters, and a variety of industrial machines, each of which is a real thing from the past that is almost difficult to find today.

The museum is located in an old stables building built since the 17th century. The building is in the back of Wollaton Hall, so if anyone visits Wollaton Park, you can visit the museum.

The Nottingham Industrial Museum was founded in 1964 by a group of local engineers called the Nottingham Arkwright Society in partnership with Nottingham City Council, with the goal of bringing together old industrial machinery and equipment as the city's historic heritage.

The museum first opened to the public in 1971.

And in time, several steam machines were restored to practical use.

The highlight of this museum is the machinery in the lace industry, which used to be Nottingham's key industry, vintage motorcycles and bicycles, tools from the coal mining industry, telecommunications technology and early machinery.

And what you can't miss is the huge steam machines from the 19th century, some of which are still operational today.

The museum was actually once closed down in 2009.

Because of the city's insufficient budget, there was a group of volunteers who helped run the venue and organise events so that the museum could reopen. Admission is currently around £4.

The other thing that makes this visit so special is that some days there will be a volunteer uncle standing in front of the entrance and he will take us on a tour and tell us the story of each machine, giving us a deeper understanding of Nottingham's industrial history than walking through the museum himself.

And what it says is open to us is that this place lets us know that the famous pharmacy and beauty chain Boots

What we are familiar with is actually Nottingham.

Take the Pink 30 bus to Wollaton Park Gate, and walk into the garden to the back of Wollaton Hall and see a small building, the Nottingham Industrial Museum.
