... Read moreI tried making this double chocolate caramel focaccia recently, and it turned out to be a real crowd-pleaser! One thing I loved was how the combination of black cocoa powder and regular cocoa created a deep chocolate flavor without overpowering the subtle sweetness from the caramel pieces. When making this focaccia, I recommend being patient with the dough rising times; the 1 to 1½ hours first rise and the subsequent 45 minutes allow the dough to become airy and fluffy, which makes a big difference in texture. Another tip is using pearl sugar on top, which adds a lovely crunchy sweetness that contrasts beautifully with the soft, gooey interior. I used a 5x7 inch loaf pan like suggested, which is perfect for a small batch, especially when you want to avoid making a large quantity of bread. Baking at 375°F for about 25 to 30 minutes gave me a nicely set crust without drying out the inside. The inside stayed deliciously gooey thanks to the melted chocolate chips and chopped caramels. This recipe is fantastic for chocolate lovers who want a unique twist on traditional focaccia. Plus, it’s quite straightforward, making it great for bakers at any level. I found the balance between the olive oil and cocoa powders just right; the oil keeps the bread tender without overpowering the chocolate notes. For anyone wanting to experiment, you could try adding a sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top before baking to enhance the chocolate and caramel flavors even more. Or, if you want it extra indulgent, serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Overall, this recipe is a wonderful option for a homemade dessert or an afternoon treat with coffee. It’s also great for sharing with friends and family since the small batch size ensures it won’t go to waste. Give it a try and enjoy the rich, comforting flavors this double chocolate caramel focaccia brings to your table!
