City of gods and monsters

I freaking loved this book!! I freaking love Darien Cassel, he isn’t just my book boyfriend, he is my book husband. There were parts of this book that completely destroyed my heart, Loren was pretty annoying in the beginning just because she basically had no self esteem or faith in herself, as soon as Darian walked into her life and decided to protect Loren did she start to believe in herself, which made me like Loren more. I love her and Darian together. They make an amazing couple but he will forever be my book husband. I am absolutely obsessed with this book and it is my number one read of the year so far

You know how some books just *hit different*? This is one of them, and it’s truly earned its place as my number one read of the year. The cover alone, with that mysterious winged creature and the keyhole, surrounded by dramatic red roses and lit white candles – it perfectly sets the scene for the dark, enchanting world you're about to dive into. It's truly a 5-star experience from start to finish. But let's be real, a huge part of this obsession is undoubtedly Darien Cassel. I mean, 'book husband' is an understatement. From the moment he appeared, I was completely captivated. He's not just a love interest; he's a force of nature, and his protectiveness over Loren is just...everything. His character development throughout the story is incredibly well-done, making him complex and utterly irresistible. If you're searching for a morally gray hero who will steal your heart, look no further. He’s the kind of character you think about long after you’ve turned the last page, the one who makes you want to reread passages just to experience his presence again. Then there's Loren. I'll admit, in the beginning, I found her a little frustrating. Her lack of self-esteem and belief in herself was a challenge, but that's what made her transformation so incredibly rewarding. Watching her grow, find her strength, and really come into her own, especially with Darien's unwavering support, was beautiful. Their dynamic is just *chef's kiss*. They complement each other perfectly, and their journey together is what truly solidifies this book as a masterpiece in my eyes. It's a testament to Kayla Edwards' writing that she can craft such a relatable, evolving heroine. And for those wondering about the 'City of Gods and Monsters series,' this book lays such a solid foundation. The world-building is intricate and immersive, pulling you into a fantastical realm that feels both ancient and dangerously new. The plot is full of twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat, making you desperate to know what happens next. It’s more than just a romance; it’s an adventure, a mystery, and a dark fantasy all rolled into one. If you're looking for a book that will absolutely consume your thoughts and leave you wanting more, this is it. Seriously, add it to your TBR pile immediately because you won't regret entering this incredible world. This isn't just a 'BOOK REVIEW'; it's a declaration of love for a story that genuinely moved me. I gave it all five yellow stars without a second thought. If you're even remotely curious about 'City of Gods and Monsters', please, give it a read. You might just find your next book obsession, and maybe even your own book husband!
