With every Freida McFadden book, I go in thinking this time..... this time!..... I’m going to outsmart her. I put on my imaginary detective hat, grab my mental corkboard of clues, and get ready to uncover the bad guy before the big reveal. And yet… 99.8% of the time, Freida looks me dead in the eye (figuratively) and says, “Nice try.” The Boyfriend was no exception.
This book was wild, twisty, and completely unputdownable. I swear, Freida could write about someone grocery shopping and I’d still be suspicious of the bananas. Somewhere around chapter five, I was deep in sleuth mode trying to figure out who Slug was—and let’s just say, you’ll have to read it yourself to find out whether I was even remotely close.
All I can say is: I am fully aware I’m becoming a certified Freida Fangirl. Send help. Or, better yet, send her next book.
