The Word
Things you must leave behind if you want to grow closer to God.
Worry.
Worry is misplaced trust. It keeps your mind trapped in fear instead of resting in God’s promises.
Pride.
Pride convinces you that you don’t need God. But humility is what opens the door for His guidance.
Bitterness.
Bitterness chains your heart to the past and poisons your peace. Forgiveness sets your soul free.
Control.
Control makes you believe everything depends on you. Faith reminds you that God is in charge.#missydebbiealbuquerque
Let go of what pulls you away from God…
and draw closer to the One who gives true peace.
In my personal journey toward spiritual growth, I’ve found that releasing worry has been transformative. Worry often feels like carrying a heavy burden that clouds trust and peace. When I consciously traded worry for faith, I began to experience a freedom that allowed my mind to rest on God's promises instead of fears. Pride, too, had been a tough barrier—thinking I had to handle everything alone only pushed me further from God’s presence. Practicing humility, like admitting when I needed God’s guidance, opened up a new level of intimacy in my relationship with Him. Bitterness was another heavy chain I struggled with. Holding onto past hurts held my heart hostage and poisoned my peace. It wasn’t until I embraced forgiveness that I felt my soul truly set free, unlocking space for joy and healing. Control was the last major obstacle; I used to believe everything depended on my efforts alone, which was exhausting and isolating. But learning to surrender control and place my faith firmly in God’s plan replaced anxiety with calm assurance. For anyone on a similar journey, I encourage you to honestly assess what you might be holding on to that pulls you away from God. Letting go is a process—sometimes gradual, sometimes challenging—but drawing closer to the One who provides true peace is always worth it. Remember, growth in faith is about daily choices to relinquish fear, pride, bitterness, and control, replacing them with trust, humility, forgiveness, and faith. This path has helped me find a deeper connection to God that continually renews my spirit and brings profound peace.
