When it comes to Execution Speed (running speed), C and C + + are still kings in many jobs that require the highest performance; especially those close to Hardware, but Rust is very close or equivalent (some benchmarks Rust is slightly faster in concurrent jobs). Why is C, C + + and Rust faster? 💡

Despite C and C + + being harder to write, the main reasons for still dominating speed are as follows:

• Compilation: All three languages are Compiled Language. Translate all code into Machine Code that the CPU understands directly at once. Do not waste time interpreting during the run (unlike Python or JavaScript, which are Interpreted or have JIT).

• Memory Management:

❇ C / C + + → Self-Control Programmer (Manual) → Highest Effective but Risky Memory Leak

❇ Rust → Use Ownership System + Borrow Checker Safety Check at Compile → Time Safe without Garbage Collector and without Overhead Waste

Most other languages have Garbage Collector (GC), which is very convenient (do not have to return memory itself), but GC requires CPU time and resources to verify and clear unused memories, thus increasing Overhead.
