One Seed Challenge
So this is my second year participating in the one seed challenge. The one seed challenge allows gardeners to come together as a community and just have fun. We plant one seed of our choosing on March 1 providing updates on the seed right up until harvest. #oneseed2026 #growfood
Participating in the One Seed Challenge has been an enriching experience for me and many other gardeners. Each year, the excitement of choosing just one seed to nurture from planting to harvest turns gardening into a shared adventure. This year, I decided to grow Clemson Spineless Okra, a popular vegetable seed known for its resilience and productivity, as reflected on the seed packet details like "Clemson Spineless #80" and the historical brand "Ferry-Morse, Since 1856." Starting from March 1, I planted my single okra seed and have been documenting its progress regularly. This challenge fosters a unique sense of community because gardeners of all skill levels post updates, share tips, and encourage one another throughout the growing season. It’s not just about growing food, but also about building connections and learning from everyone's experiences. What makes the One Seed Challenge especially rewarding is the simplicity: focusing on one seed reduces overwhelm and keeps the process enjoyable. Whether you have a large garden or just a few pots on your windowsill, this challenge accommodates all. You can choose any seed—vegetables, flowers, herbs—and enjoy watching it sprout, grow, and flourish through the months. By tagging posts with #oneseed2026 and #growfood, participants join an online community where you can find planting advice, problem-solving help, and inspiring success stories. It’s an excellent way for new gardeners to start and experienced growers to share their wisdom. If you're curious about starting, I recommend preparing your seedbed or container ahead of March 1 and ensuring your seed is suited to your climate. Follow up by setting simple reminder updates to track progress and connect with others. The One Seed Challenge is more than a gardening task—it's a journey that celebrates growth, patience, and community spirit.
