The thing is, I want to change the air conditioner at the new condo. The original is 12,000 BTU, but I want the room to cool faster, so I organized 18,000 BTU. Come on. I thought I'd come to install it for a while, and it's over at home...But when the mechanic arrived, he had to brake his head!
Because the air condo is not like the air house with areas that may be easier to change.
The big problems encountered are:
1. Compressor size is not the same: As the BTU gets taller, the hot coil body gets bigger as it appears that it cannot be placed on the original hanging leg. It must be dismantled.
2. The pipe work is a big deal: the original air pipe (12,000 BTU) and the new thing (18,000 BTU) are different sizes! And the point is that the pipe in the condo is hidden behind the frost and all the walls. If you change it, you have to conduit across the frost. There may be a drill. There is a frosted repair.
Fortunately, I had another house, so I decided to move this air conditioner there instead and make a new appointment, or it would be a mess.
💡 Lessons learned today:
- AIR 12,000 and 15,000 BTU mainly use similar pipe size and compressor (a little easy to replace)
- Air 18,000 and 21,000 BTU will move up another step. It requires a larger tube.
- If you use a small air conditioner in a large room, the air conditioner will work hard and break down quickly.
A simple BTU calculation formula:
Room area (Sq) x Heat variable (700 - 1,000)
Bedroom x 700 - 800
Office / Guest Rooms x 800 - 1,000
Like my room, 15 square meters x 800 - 1,000 is 12,000 - 15,000 BTU...

จากประสบการณ์ตรงของผมที่เจอปัญหาเมื่อต้องการอัพเกรดแอร์คอนโด จากแอร์ขนาด 12,000 BTU เป็น 18,000 BTU พบว่าการเลือกแค่ BTU มาอย่างเดียวไม่ได้เป็นตัวเลือกที่เหมาะสมเสมอไป โดยเฉพาะในคอนโดที่งานติดตั้งมีข้อจำกัดเรื่องพื้นที่และโครงสร้าง เช่น ท่อแอร์ที่ซ่อนอยู่หลังฝ้าและในผนัง ซึ่งถ้าจะเปลี่ยนขนาดแอร์ที่ต่างกันมาก ท่อและขนาดคอมเพรสเซอร์จะแตกต่างกัน ทำให้ต้องเจาะฝ้าเพื่อเปลี่ยนท่อใหม่และยังต้องทำชั้นแขวนแอร์ใหม่ด้วย ขอแนะนำว่าก่อนตัดสินใจสั่งซื้อแอร์ใหม่ ควรตรวจสอบรายละเอียดหน้างานให้ชัดเจน โดยเฉพาะขนาดของคอมเพรสเซอร์และท่อที่ติดตั้งอยู่เดิม เพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงงานงอกที่ไม่จำเป็น เช่น ต้องเจาะฝ้า หรือทำโครงสร้างใหม่ นอกจากนั้นสูตรคำนวณ BTU ที่เหมาะสมตามขนาดห้อง เช่น ห้องนอน 15 ตารางเมตร ควรเลือกแอร์ที่อยู่ในช่วง 12,000 - 15,000 BTU เท่านั้น จะช่วยให้แอร์ทำงานได้เต็มประสิทธิภาพและไม่เสื่อมเร็ว ในกรณีที่ห้องขนาดใหญ่ ควรเลือกแอร์ที่กำลังไฟสูงขึ้นแต่ต้องมั่นใจว่าระบบและส่วนประกอบต่างๆ สามารถรองรับได้ รวมถึงเตรียมงบประมาณสำหรับงานติดตั้งที่อาจจะซับซ้อนมากขึ้นด้วย นอกจากนี้ หากไม่มั่นใจควรปรึกษาช่างแอร์มืออาชีพหรือเจ้าหน้าที่ผู้เชี่ยวชาญก่อนสั่งซื้อ เพื่อให้ได้แอร์ที่เหมาะสมกับสภาพห้องและไม่ต้องเจอปัญหางานเงื่อนไขซับซ้อน ประสบการณ์นี้ทำให้ผมรู้ว่าแอร์บ้านและแอร์คอนโดมีข้อจำกัดและความแตกต่างในเรื่องของติดตั้งอย่างมาก ใครที่วางแผนจะอัพเกรดแอร์ในคอนโด ต้องเตรียมใจและเตรียมงานหน้างานให้ละเอียด เพื่อให้ได้ความเย็นอย่างที่ตั้งใจโดยไม่ต้องเสียเวลาหรือค่าใช้จ่ายเพิ่มภายหลัง
