Floor Bonding With My Dumbbells — From 2kg to 7.5k

July 2025: 2kg dumbbells. Thought it was enough. 😂

9 months later: 7.5kg main weight, ankle weights, and a very unhealthy attachment to my dumbbell collection. 💪

We've been through a lot together — sweat, questionable life choices, and that one time 2kg Svend Press made me question my entire existence.

To the ladies still swinging 1kg pink dumbbells — I say this with love — put them down. 😂

... Read moreWhen I first started working out at home, I honestly thought 2kg dumbbells were enough. But as the weeks went by, I realized that my strength was improving and that I needed to increase my weights to keep making progress. By the nine-month mark, I was using 7.5kg dumbbells along with ankle weights — my workouts felt more challenging and rewarding. One key lesson I've learned is the importance of gradually increasing your workout weight. Jumping too quickly can lead to injury or frustration, but slowly adding more weight keeps your muscles engaged and growing. Also, mixing different dumbbell weights, like 1.5kg, 3kg, 5kg, and 7.5kg, allows you to tailor exercises to different muscle groups and intensities. Another great addition has been incorporating ankle weights to add resistance during lower-body workouts, which really helped improve my overall tone and strength. Most importantly, staying consistent, even on days I wasn’t feeling motivated, made the biggest difference. For anyone still holding onto light weights like 1kg pink dumbbells, I gently encourage you to challenge yourself and move up gradually. It’s incredible how much confidence you gain alongside your physical strength. Remember, strength training isn’t just about muscle — it’s about building resilience, improving metabolism, and boosting your daily energy levels. Tracking calories and focusing on nutrition has complemented my workouts, ensuring my body gets the fuel it needs to recover and grow stronger. If you’re working out at home, create a dedicated space and routine that motivates you, and don’t hesitate to adjust your equipment as you progress. Finally, remember that every dumbbell in your collection tells a story of how far you’ve come — from small beginnings to powerful achievements. Keep sweating, keep pushing, and enjoy the journey of floor bonding with your weights.
