Newborn circumcision

Circumcision at Sidek Clinic

Cost : $75 (after medisave)

Price list included at the end.

1st Visit : 10mins procedure

Nurses were all so kind and sweet . Goes through care instructions thoroughly on what to expect or not. A little certificate and a photo frame as a gift.

Doctor gave cream and ‘panadol’ to help with the pain. Just kept giving the dosage accordingly (fyi the medicine isn’t suppose to make him sleep, it helps him to feel less pain so that he can soothe enough to sleep)

2nd Visit : 10mins Visit

Doctor just to check on the wound , bleeding or yellow substance and provide advice.

Alhamdulilah sumoboy didnt get a high fever few days after. But his bleeding and the yellow substance persisted a lil longer than i liked but just need to push through with the antibiotic cream.

He already had a routine for naps and sleep. And it didn’t affect much the routine but i did have tougher time to settle him for the naps and sleeps.

Would I do it for my future kids ? Depends.

Cost-wise : great decision.

But because I wasn’t capable emotionally to see him hurt so much and not able to help much, first three days my mum on my husband would help mainly with diapers cause I cannot bear to see the wound.

I would definitely prefer to do it when they’re older.

Maybe those that had their circumcision when they’re older, share your thoughts? Were YOU traumatised and wished parents did it when you were younger?

... Read moreHaving gone through the newborn circumcision process myself, I truly appreciated the detailed care instructions provided by the nurses and medical staff. One of the most important aspects after the procedure is wound care, particularly air drying after every diaper change. This simple step can significantly reduce the risk of infection and promote faster healing. From day 3 to day 7 post-procedure, expect some bleeding and a yellowish discharge, which is part of normal healing, but persistence beyond that period should be monitored and discussed with the doctor. Pain management is crucial for your baby's comfort. The cream and pain-relief medications given are designed to soothe pain without causing excessive drowsiness, allowing the baby to maintain sleep routines as smoothly as possible. In my experience, it was a bit challenging to settle my baby for naps initially, but following the medication schedule and providing comfort made a meaningful difference. Emotionally, watching your newborn go through any procedure can be tough. I found that support from family members, like my husband and mother, was invaluable in managing diaper changes and care during the most difficult days. In terms of timing, while newborn circumcision is cost-effective and typically well-tolerated, some parents, including myself, might prefer circumcision at an older age when the child can better understand and perhaps handle the pain and discomfort emotionally. If you're considering this procedure, I recommend visiting a reputable clinic like Sidek Clinic, known for their gentle approach and thorough aftercare. Also, keep in mind the importance of patience and support for both your baby and yourself during the recovery phase. For families with older boys, hearing their perspectives on timing and experience can offer additional valuable insight into making this personal decision.

I was circumcised late at Twelve in a clinic at Geylang. There was a female nurse.I remembered about Three or more injections down there and the doctor did a bad job. Circumcised your sons in infancy.
