PHU QUOC — WHAT TO DO/SEE 🌊☀️

Info-intensive but there’s enough entertainment, cultural sights and even natural attractions (like hiking) if you’re up for a quick weekend trip to the island!

The island can be loosely divided into three areas: the northern stretch of resorts and theme parks; the central hub of Duong Dong, where local life hums; and the south, where I spend four days exploring.

... Read moreDuring my stay, I found that each part of Phu Quoc offers distinct experiences worth exploring. Beyond the popular northern resorts and theme parks, the southern region, where I spent most of my time, revealed much about the island’s rich culture and history. One of my favorite activities was visiting the Phung Hung Fish Sauce Factory. Watching how the 2m-tall vats produce authentic fish sauce gave me insight into a key local product. Tasting and purchasing fish sauce directly from the maker was a truly unique experience — perfect for souvenirs or cooking back home. Cycling around the area was another highlight. I took a morning bike ride that combined nature and history by stopping at Phu Quoc Prison, also known as Coconut Tree Prison, which offers a solemn look at the island’s wartime past through detailed exhibits and realistic displays. For entertainment, the Sun World Hon Thom complex impressed me with its Aquatopia Water Park and the Exotica Village, home to Vietnam’s only wooden roller coaster. Whether you’re after adrenaline or family-friendly fun, this place caters to all. Don’t miss walking through Sunset Town—its colorful buildings and iconic Kiss Bridge provide stunning photo opportunities. The nearby Kiss of The Sea show is a spectacular outdoor event with water projections, music, and fireworks that bring local culture to life in a truly entertaining way. Getting around is easy thanks to recent flight expansions from Singapore, making Phu Quoc accessible for quick weekend getaways or longer stays. Whether you want to relax on its beautiful beaches or dive into local culture and cuisine, Phu Quoc has something special for every traveler.
