How I Actually Stay in Shape Coding 12+ Hours a Day #gym #coding

... Read moreMaintaining physical health while dedicating over 12 hours a day to coding can seem like an impossible challenge, but with the right approach, it’s definitely achievable. From my own experience, consistency and small adjustments throughout the day make a big difference. First, integrating short but regular movement breaks is key. Every hour, I set a timer to remind myself to stand up, stretch, or do a few jumping jacks or bodyweight exercises like squats and push-ups. These quick bursts of activity help combat the negative effects of prolonged sitting, improve circulation, and keep energy levels higher throughout the day. Second, creating a workout routine that fits around your coding schedule is essential. For me, mornings are dedicated to gym sessions focusing on strength and cardio, which builds endurance and supports better posture during sedentary work. If mornings are not an option, even short evening workouts or walks can significantly improve fitness. Nutrition also plays a significant role. Staying hydrated and choosing balanced meals that include proteins, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates support both mental focus and physical well-being. I avoid excessive caffeine and processed snacks that can lead to energy crashes. Lastly, mental wellness is intertwined with physical health. Incorporating mindfulness or brief meditation sessions during breaks helps reduce stress and maintain motivation. Utilizing AI tools, such as those mentioned for smarter work and better time management, frees up more time for self-care activities. By adopting these habits, staying in shape while coding long hours is not only possible but also enhances overall productivity and satisfaction in both professional and personal life.
