Is it worth oversharing just to keep a convo going

I always called myself an open book. If anyone wanted to know anything about me with opinions, traumas, messy experiences I’d spill it. Usually right away, even to strangers. But I’m an introvert, and conversations drain me fast. More often than not, I’d overshare just to fill the awkward silences, to keep the chat from dying because I didn’t know what else to say. In fact, I’ve come to realize this isn’t normal. Most people don’t unload their relationship drama or family fights on friends like it’s small talk, those are things that should stay private. I’m desperate to move in silence, to be a little mysterious. To choose what and who I share with instead of spilling my whole life to avoid awkward pauses. Any advice on how to dial it back?

... Read moreOversharing during conversations is a common challenge, particularly for introverts who find small talk exhausting yet feel compelled to fill awkward silences with personal information. It is important to recognize that while openness can foster connection, sharing too much too soon or inappropriately can overwhelm your conversation partner and lead to discomfort or misunderstandings. The phrase captured from the OCR, "POV: we all overshare personal like... too late information just to conversation," highlights the relatable experience of revealing too much in an attempt to keep a conversation flowing. To address oversharing habits, one effective approach is to pause and reflect before revealing personal details. Consider the nature of the relationship and whether the setting is appropriate for that level of vulnerability. Instead of diving into heavy topics such as relationship drama or family conflicts immediately, try steering conversations toward neutral or shared interests until trust is established. Setting conversational boundaries is crucial. Techniques like asking questions, practicing active listening, and using open-ended prompts can engage the other person, reduce pressure to fill silences, and create a more balanced exchange. For introverts, preparing a few light conversation starters or topics in advance can also reduce anxiety about pauses. Additionally, embracing silence as a natural element of dialogue can be liberating. Not every silence needs to be filled, as it often allows space for reflection and deeper connection. Managing the urge to overshare helps protect your privacy and emotional energy, enhancing your authenticity without sacrificing your comfort. Overall, dialing back oversharing requires mindful communication, awareness of social cues, and self-compassion. It's about gradually learning to choose what, when, and with whom to share, ultimately fostering meaningful connections while maintaining your inner boundaries and personal peace.

You don’t need to keep every conversation alive. Focus on the ones that matter. Own your time. And always, always be real. And you can’t waste time trying to make everyone happy. So when it’s time to dial it back, don’t tiptoe around it. Say, 'This was cool, but I gotta bounce—let’s reconnect later.' It’s simple and honest, and ppl respect that💯😎

It was truly hard to hear, but through Debbie I am learning not only how to deal with the ADD but also how to deal with my strengths and my weaknesses. I am not saying that you have ADD or anything else just what you do sounds extremely familiar because of what I do.

How Men Actually Decide If You’re WORTH IT 💎 (Most Women Get This Wrong)
This isn’t about being “pretty enough” or “good enough.” The truth is, men don’t decide your value based on your looks or your words — they decide it based on your standards, behavior, and self-respect. If you have to beg for love, chase someone to stay, or tolerate disrespect just to be chosen…
