you’ll be sweating through these books …

in the bustling city of Ketterdam, seventeen-year-old master criminal Kaz Brekker is given an offer he can’t refuse: a seemingly-impossible heist in exchange for an enormous fortune. he assembles a group of teenage thieves, each with a different set of skills, to infiltrate the impenetrable Ice Court.

it’s a heist, yes, and the grittiness of the underworld of thieves and chaotic changes-of-plan are both very fun. but the real strength here is the characters. bardugo dances between six perspectives and made me care about all of them. they each have tremendous depth and gracefully-woven-in backstories, and the relationships between each member of the crew were fascinating.

I also really loved Bardugo’s use of imagery when describing new characters. her language is clever, cinematic, and often funny.

definitely recommend this duo!

... Read moreOkay, so if you're anything like me, you've been on the hunt for that next unforgettable read, right? Well, let me tell you, Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows duology isn't just a book series; it's an experience! I absolutely agree with those who call it 'the BEST heist duology' out there. From the moment I picked up *Six of Crows*, I was completely swept away by the gritty, magical world of Ketterdam and its unforgettable cast of characters. What makes this fantasy heist novel stand out? It's the perfect blend of intricate plotting, high stakes, and deep character development. Kaz Brekker, the notorious master criminal, isn't just a leader; he's a strategist whose mind works in fascinating, often brutal, ways. The entire crew – Inej, Jesper, Wylan, Nina, and Matthias – each brings a unique set of skills and a compelling backstory to the table. You truly get invested in their individual journeys and the complex relationships that bind them together, even when they're fighting each other. The quotes from the books, like 'When everyone knows you're a monster, you needn't waste time doing every monstrous thing,' really capture the essence of these morally grey, yet incredibly charismatic, figures. It's not just about the gold; it's about survival, loyalty, and finding a place in a world that often tries to break you. Bardugo masterfully weaves in their past traumas and present desires, making every character feel incredibly real and their struggles deeply resonant. If you're wondering where you can immerse yourself in this thrilling world, finding a way to read Six of Crows online is easier than ever! Most major e-book platforms like Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play Books, and Kobo offer both Six of Crows and its equally brilliant sequel, *Crooked Kingdom*, for purchase. Don't forget to check your local library's digital lending services through apps like Libby or OverDrive – many have these popular titles available for free borrowing, often with a short waitlist. For those who prefer audiobooks, both titles are brilliantly narrated and perfect for commutes, workouts, or just relaxing at home. And let's talk about the Six of Crows fantasy heist novel cover art for a moment. The iconic crow design on both Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom instantly sets the tone for the dark, intriguing adventures within. They're visually striking and perfectly encapsulate the edgy, mysterious vibe of the series. Holding them, as the images show, just makes you want to dive right in. The use of deep colors and symbolic imagery truly reflects the intricate world and the cunning nature of its protagonists. These covers aren't just pretty; they're a promise of the thrilling story that awaits inside. Seriously, if you're looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, make you root for a crew of charming criminals, and deliver a fantasy experience unlike any other, the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo is an absolute must-read. It's a true gem of the genre, offering not just an incredible heist, but also profound explorations of friendship, sacrifice, and what it means to be truly powerful. I finished these books feeling exhilarated and a little heartbroken, a sure sign of a truly impactful story. I can't recommend it enough!
