Reinforce Nubalina With Me 💅🏼
You do NOT have to lose length when breaking a nail. I, myself, use to chop off all my nails if I broke one. Granted, I had a pretty good break but a little care goes a long way 💁🏽♀️
I totally get the panic when you see a nail break! It's happened to me so many times, and I used to feel like I had no choice but to chop them all off. But trust me, you don't have to! I've learned a super simple DIY trick that's saved my nails from countless breaks, especially those annoying ones that threaten to take all your length. Here's my go-to rescue mission for a broken nail, so you can keep rocking your beautiful long nails: What you'll need: A small piece of a tea bag (empty, clean, and dry!) or a silk/fiber wrap Clear nail polish or nail glue (I prefer clear polish for less damage) A fine grit nail file or buffer Tweezers (optional, for precision) My Step-by-Step DIY Nail Reinforcement: Clean the Area: First things first, make sure your nail and the broken area are clean and dry. Gently remove any old polish. Trim the Tea Bag: Cut a tiny piece of the tea bag, just slightly larger than the broken area. The thinner the tea bag, the better! Apply Base Coat/Polish: Apply a thin layer of clear nail polish or a tiny dot of nail glue directly over the break. Place the Patch: Carefully place the tea bag piece over the wet polish/glue using tweezers. Gently press it down so it adheres smoothly to the nail. Seal It In: Apply another layer of clear polish or glue over the tea bag patch. Make sure it's fully saturated and smoothed out. Let it dry completely. You might need a second thin coat after the first one dries. Smooth It Out: Once everything is bone dry, gently buff the patched area with a fine-grit nail file or buffer. Be super careful not to file too much and weaken the patch. The goal is to make it feel smooth and seamless. Finish Strong: Apply a regular clear top coat over your entire nail. This will further seal the patch and give it a polished look. You can then apply your colored polish as usual! This little trick usually holds up for a week or two, giving your nail time to grow out past the break so you can trim it naturally. Remember, this is a temporary fix, but it's a lifesaver for keeping your length! Beyond the Fix: Preventing Future Breaks Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize: I swear by cuticle oil and hand cream daily. Hydrated nails are flexible nails, less prone to snapping. Gentle Filing: Always file in one direction, not back and forth, to prevent fraying. Protective Base Coat: Use a good quality base coat to strengthen your nails and protect them from colored polishes. Gloves for Chores: When doing dishes or cleaning, wearing gloves is a non-negotiable for me! Water and chemicals can really weaken nails. By combining this reinforcement method with good nail care habits, you'll be able to tackle those annoying breaks like a pro and keep your nails looking fabulous! It really is about giving them a little extra love.
