31 WEEKS 💙
Hitting 31 weeks pregnant feels absolutely surreal! It’s incredible how quickly time flies, and my little boy will be here before I know it. As a first-time mom, every week brings new discoveries and a mix of excitement, nerves, and pure anticipation. This week has been particularly eventful, and I wanted to share a little update on what life's like in the final stretch of the third trimester. Physically, the changes are more pronounced than ever. Braxton Hicks contractions have become a more regular occurrence, reminding me that my body is diligently preparing for the big day. They’re not painful, but definitely noticeable! Fatigue has also made a comeback; it’s like my body suddenly remembered it’s growing a human and decided to hit the snooze button on my energy levels. I've found myself needing more naps and definitely prioritizing rest whenever I can. Swelling in my feet and ankles has started to creep in, especially after a long day, so elevating my legs has become my new best friend. And let’s not forget the heartburn – it’s a constant companion these days, but totally worth it for my little one. On the baby front, it’s amazing to think about how much he’s growing and developing inside. He’s getting bigger and stronger, and his movements are less like gentle flutters and more like full-on acrobatics! Sometimes it feels like he’s practicing for the Olympics in there. Hearing his heartbeat at appointments always melts my heart and reinforces that all these aches and pains are temporary and so, so worth it. We’ve been talking to him, playing music, and just generally enjoying these last few weeks of him being solely mine. The nesting instinct has well and truly kicked in! Our nursery is starting to come together, and it’s been so much fun picking out tiny outfits and organizing all his little things. I've been washing all his clothes in baby-friendly detergent, folding them with care, and imagining him wearing each piece. The hospital bag is also slowly being packed – I’m trying to be super organized and think of everything we might need, from comfortable clothes for me to tiny essentials for him. It’s a delicate balance between being prepared and not overpacking! Emotionally, it’s a rollercoaster. There are days filled with pure joy and excitement, dreaming about what kind of person he’ll be. Then there are moments of anxiety, wondering if I’ll be a good enough mom, if I’m truly ready for this huge responsibility. But mostly, it’s just overwhelming love. Connecting with other first-time moms has been a huge help; knowing that these feelings are universal makes everything feel a little less daunting. I’m also making sure to take some time for myself, whether it’s a warm bath, reading a book, or just enjoying a quiet moment before our lives change forever. For anyone else hitting the 31-week mark, my biggest advice would be to listen to your body, rest when you can, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Embrace the nesting, but don’t stress if everything isn’t perfect. Most importantly, savor these last few weeks of pregnancy; they’re truly unique and special. We're getting closer to meeting our little boy, and I can't wait to share more of this incredible journey from Texas!
