Today I went to pick up my graduation gown… and left with my diploma too. 🥹🎓💅🏼
If you had told me a year ago that I’d be graduating, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.
This school year pushed me to my limits. Between hospitalizations, comas, health flare ups, epilepsy, allergic reactions that forced me to miss classes, being a stay at home mom, raising my autistic daughter, and just trying to survive some really difficult days, there were so many moments when I thought I might not make it to the finish line.
But somehow, I did.
This graduation means so much more than finishing a Nail Technician program. It represents every obstacle that tried to stop me and every person who encouraged me to keep going when I wanted to give up.
Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this journey, especially those who believed in me enough to help me continue my education when things got hard. I’ll never forget it.
What makes this even more special is that this will be my first graduation ever. I was homeschooled growing up, so I’ve never gotten to wear a cap and gown, walk across a stage, or experience this milestone.
On Sunday, I’ll finally get that moment. ❤️
And I’ll be walking across that stage with my service dog by my side, just as he has been through every challenge that helped me get here.
I did it. We did it. 🎓🐕🦺✨

Graduating can be a milestone marked by celebration and new beginnings, but it can also be a testament to overcoming personal trials. I remember juggling my health battles with daily responsibilities, especially as a stay-at-home mom raising a child with autism. These challenges made attending classes and staying on track very difficult, especially with hospitalizations and other medical emergencies pulling me away. One thing that kept me going was my service dog, a steady companion who not only assisted me physically but also provided emotional support during the toughest moments. Having that silent encouragement nearby helped me maintain focus and strength, especially when managing epilepsy and allergic reactions that sometimes forced me to pause my education. Balancing motherhood, health crises, and education was a daunting task, but each small victory felt like reclaiming a piece of my independence and purpose. I found that setting manageable goals and accepting help from a support network was crucial. Whether it was my family encouraging me, instructors accommodating my needs, or communities online sharing similar journeys, support made the difference. For those facing comparable obstacles, I want to share this: persistence truly pays off, and every challenge you conquer adds to your story of resilience. Celebrate each step forward and never underestimate the power of support, whether human or animal. Wearing my cap and gown for the first time, walking across that stage, and holding my diploma represented so much more than academic achievement—it was a symbol of hope, dedication, and the unbreakable spirit to keep moving forward. If you’re experiencing difficulties in your educational path due to health or life circumstances, remember there are resources and communities ready to support you. Your journey may be unique, but you’re not alone, and your graduation day—whenever it comes—will be worth every struggle along the way.
