I’m officially a two-time marathoner. Every Woman’s Marathon was an emotional roller coaster. The highest highs, the lowest lows. I went in with my heart set on a sub-six finish, hoping to do better than I did in Minneapolis in October. Instead, I had to watch that goal slowly slip away as the sun got hotter and the course asked more of me than I expected. The race humbled me. It hurt. I was sad.
But here’s what stood out above everything else: the people.
From the Fuel Goods team and Mak showing up for me in ways I’ll never forget, to Tatiana’s determination, to Damali’s incredible pacing, to the women I met out on the course… I am so lucky. I am so honored. I could not have done it without you. Running might be a solo sport, but I never once felt alone.
There will be more races. There will be other days to chase that PR. But I’ll carry yesterday with me forever because of the love I felt out there. The community of women who lift each other up is truly unmatched.
This wasn’t just any race. It was absolutely EVERY Woman’s Marathon.

Completing a marathon is a profound achievement, and every runner encounters unique challenges along the course. My experience at Every Woman’s Marathon highlighted not only the physical demands but also the mental and emotional roller coaster that marathon running entails, especially under tough conditions like heat and hilly terrain. The race’s difficulties were compounded by the unforgiving heat and challenging hills, as mentioned in the OCR text referencing "giant hills" and "hardest conditions." These factors can significantly impact performance, making it important for runners to adjust expectations and pacing strategies during the event to preserve energy and prevent burnout. One of the most compelling aspects of marathons, particularly women’s races like this one, is the strong sense of community and support that develops among participants. From the pacing crews like Damali who help maintain steady rhythms, to supportive friends like Mak and inspirational runners like Tatiana, having that network can transform the experience from a solitary struggle into a shared celebration. Additionally, the presence of support teams such as Fuel Goods, a known provider of running essentials, can be crucial in providing needed supplies and encouragement along the route. Such support fosters a nurturing environment that uplifts everyone. Mental resilience is equally important. Miles 10, 17, and 22 were noted in the OCR as difficult points, with physical pain and fatigue mounting. Acknowledging these tough moments and pushing through them with encouragement from fellow runners and positive self-talk is key to crossing the finish line. Every Woman’s Marathon is unique in its mission to empower female runners at all levels, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and mutual uplift. This collective energy—evidenced by the shouted encouragements captured in the images—is part of what makes these races so memorable beyond the personal achievement. Looking ahead, there will always be new marathons and opportunities to chase personal records, but the connections made and the emotional journey experienced here form an irreplaceable part of the running story. Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or a beginner contemplating your first race, understanding both the physical and emotional terrain can prepare you for a rewarding running experience deeply enriched by community support and shared challenge.
