For a long time I thought my weight was just a discipline issue.

Looking back, I can see how much my undiagnosed ADHD impacted my stress levels, routines, and the way I used food to cope.

I’m not completely blaming ADHD for my weight but it was an important piece of my story that I didn’t understand until much later. understanding it changed everything. I wonder sometimes how different life could’ve been had I had this knowledge earlier.

... Read moreWhen I finally understood how ADHD affected my executive functions like planning, time management, and task switching, I realized how these challenges contributed to my stress and eating habits. ADHD isn’t just about difficulty focusing—it deeply impacts how we manage everyday responsibilities and emotions. For me, constant catch-up mode created overwhelming stress and exhaustion, and food became a quick source of comfort and relief. This cycle of stress, relief, guilt, and even more stress was exhausting but also puzzling until I connected the dots. People with ADHD often experience a stronger desire for immediate rewards due to differences in dopamine and norepinephrine systems. This neurological aspect explains why it’s harder to resist comfort foods when feeling overwhelmed or anxious. Recognizing this made me more compassionate toward myself and my behaviors instead of blaming them solely on willpower or discipline. If you relate to this experience, I encourage you to explore the root causes behind your habits. Even if you don’t have ADHD, understanding your brain’s responses to stress and reward can be life-changing. It allows you to develop strategies that go beyond the typical "eat less, move more" advice. For example, building routines that reduce overwhelm, practicing self-awareness around emotional eating, and seeking professional guidance to manage underlying neurodiverse traits can be incredibly helpful. Ultimately, weight management and wellness are complex and personal journeys. Embracing the science behind ADHD and executive function has helped me break my patterns and develop healthier coping mechanisms. This awareness empowers you to create sustainable changes that support both your mental health and physical well-being.

Focus + Discipline ✨
Focus isn’t about motivation. Discipline isn’t about hype. It’s about showing up—again and again—when nobody’s watching. It’s picking up the weight even when your mind tells you to quit. It’s stacking small wins until they turn into unstoppable momentum. Motivation fades. Discipline carri

I Only Lost Weight When I Stopped Trying To
I didn’t lose weight by trying harder. I lost it when I stopped fighting myself. For years, I micromanaged every bite, every workout, every step count. I thought discipline would finally make me love my body. But all it did was create fear around food and exhaustion in my soul. When I slowed down—
