Read the Bible with me 🌸🫶
“You have tested my heart; you have examined me at night. You have tried me and found nothing evil; I have determined that my mouth will not sin. ”
Psalms 17:3 CSB
In hindsight, David may seem cocky or full of himself, but the truth is that his desire is to live in accordance with God's commands and laws. He repeatedly said, "Search my heart. Search me, O God." This demonstrates humility, honor, and confidence that God's ways are better than his own. The scripture emphasizes the importance of our words. David declared, "I have determined that my mouth would not sin." Our words can bring either death or life; thus, a heart aligned with God will reflect the words a person speaks. David lived by a high standard and did not make excuses. He sought what was right and what was holy.
Proverbs 16:24 states, "Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste and healthy for the body." We cannot praise Jesus with the same mouth that tears down the person in the mirror, nags at our husbands, or lacks kindness towards our wives. A mouth that diminishes the dreams of our children cannot genuinely love Jesus while spewing hate.
I encourage you to ask God to search your heart, and He will reveal the areas of your life that need transformation. Write them down, pray, fast, immerse yourself in His Word, and watch Him transform your life. Give Him room to move.
