Who I was before you called me mom

2024/12/31 Edited to

... Read moreEmbracing motherhood is a journey unlike any other, often marked by profound shifts in identity. Before I heard “Mom,” my days were filled with different priorities, dreams, and a version of myself I thought I knew inside out. Then, overnight, everything changed. That initial period can feel like a beautiful blur – overwhelming love mixed with an unfamiliar sense of self. It's a process of letting go of your “younger me” and gradually, lovingly, welcoming the incredible woman you're becoming. For me, the “meaning of motherhood” wasn't just about endless cuddles and sleepless nights; it was about truly understanding the depth of unconditional love and resilience I never knew I possessed. It meant learning to navigate a world where my needs often came second, yet finding immense joy in those sacrifices. It’s a constant dance between nurturing a new life and rediscovering the essence of who you are in this new role. One of the surprising parts of this transformation was how my identity felt absorbed by the title “Mom.” Suddenly, that's what everyone called me – my kids, their friends, sometimes even my own partner or family members! While it's a title I wear with pride, I also realized how crucial it was to hold onto other facets of my identity. This is where personal connections and even those silly “contact names for mom” in our friends' phones became surprisingly grounding. My best friend still has me saved as “Crazy Cat Lady” (from my pre-kid days with my beloved felines!), and my partner occasionally uses a pet name that instantly takes me back to just being *us*. These little reminders, knowing that I'm also seen as a friend, a partner, or just me with my unique quirks, helped me embrace my new role without losing sight of my individual self. It's not about denying motherhood but enriching it by staying connected to all the wonderful parts that make you, well, *you*. To truly embrace the meaning of motherhood, I’ve found it essential to carve out moments for self-care, however small. Whether it's a quiet cup of coffee before anyone else wakes up, reconnecting with a hobby I loved, or simply chatting with a friend who knows the “old me,” these acts help bridge the gap between past and present. It’s about integrating your past self into your present self, creating a richer, more complex identity. Don't be afraid to ask for help, to set boundaries, and to redefine what “embracing motherhood” means for *you*. It’s not just about nurturing your child; it’s about nurturing yourself as you grow into this powerful, loving, and ever-evolving version of you.

Who was Deborah⚖️⚔️✝️
This one feels a little deeper than Esther because Deborah challenges the idea that all godly women look the same. She wasn’t a queen, she wasn’t chosen for her beauty, and she wasn’t waiting for someone to hand her a title. Deborah was already walking in her calling. She listened to God, led with
