"Your skin is your best accessory. Take good care of it!"

July 8th is National love your skin day. Its a day to celebrate and love on the skin we were born in. Our skin is the largest organ on your body and is a strong barrier designed to shield us from the outside elements. Your skin’s layers, nerves, cells, hair follicles, and glands all team up, keeping things balanced and your body protected. So why not show it some love not just today but every day?

With that said, today I'll be sharing with you 3 simple tips on how you can show love to your skin everyday:

1. Stay Hydrated!!!!- This one should be "number 1 on everybody's list" (in my jay-z voice) 😉 no but seriously, our bodies are made up of 50-75% water

2. Use Sunscreen Daily: Protect your skin from harmful UV rays by applying sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days and in the winter!

3. Maintain a Consistent Skincare Routine: Cleanse, moisturize, and treat your skin regularly to keep it healthy and radiant. Consistency is key for long-term skin health.

When we talk about hydration, it's not just about drinking water – though that's incredibly vital for overall health and skin plumpness. I've personally noticed a huge difference in my skin's texture and radiance when I consistently hit my water intake goals. But external hydration matters too! Think about incorporating hydrating serums, like hyaluronic acid, into your routine, especially if you live in a dry climate. I even keep a small facial mist at my desk for a quick refresh during the day. It's those layers of hydration that lock in moisture and give you that dewy glow. And sunscreen? Oh my goodness, it's a non-negotiable! I used to think it was just for beach days, but realizing the constant exposure to UV rays, even indoors or on cloudy days, was a game-changer for me. Finding a broad-spectrum SPF that I actually enjoy wearing has been key. There are so many amazing lightweight formulas now that don't feel greasy or leave a white cast. I personally love a tinted mineral sunscreen for daily wear – it gives a little coverage and a lot of protection. Reapplying throughout the day, especially if you're outdoors, is another habit I've built. It might seem like a hassle at first, but knowing I'm protecting against premature aging and sun damage makes it completely worth it. Consistency in a routine is indeed crucial, but it's also about building a routine that works for your skin. My journey involved a lot of trial and error to figure out what my skin truly needed. For example, I learned that gentle exfoliation a couple of times a week helps boost cell turnover without irritating my sensitive skin. I also pay close attention to my skin's signals – if it's feeling dry, I'll layer on a richer moisturizer; if I'm breaking out, I'll focus on soothing and purifying ingredients. It's like having a conversation with your skin. But let's not forget that skin health isn't just about what we put on it. What we put in our bodies plays an enormous role. I've found that incorporating more antioxidant-rich foods, like berries and leafy greens, and healthy fats, like avocados and nuts, has positively impacted my skin's brightness and elasticity. It’s amazing how a balanced diet reflects on your complexion. And finally, my absolute favorite aspect of 'loving my skin' is making skincare a true self-care ritual. Instead of rushing through my routine, I try to turn it into a moment of mindfulness. Massaging in my cleanser, gently patting in my serums, and taking a few deep breaths as I apply my moisturizer – it transforms a chore into a calming, pampering experience. It's about giving myself those few minutes of peace and showing gratitude for my body. So, on National Love Your Skin Day, let's all embrace these practices, not just for perfect skin, but for a happier, healthier, and more confident self, all year long.
