money bonuses for opening checking accounts 💸

today i opened a chase checking account after receiving an email about a $400 bonus for doing so as a new customer. (if you decide to open with chase and you’re a disney fan i’d recommend choosing a disney chase card at no extra fee) it makes the card cute and you also get 10% off everything disney

(yes, it’s just a checking account not a credit card)

THIS POST IS FOR NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY

for example i was already a customer with chase because i have a credit card however i’ve never opened a checking or savings account with them so the bonus offer applies to me 🧚🏽

i’m going to use all checking account bonuses to pay off my credit card debt but of course you can do whatever you’d like with your money~

right now the bonuses for opening checking accounts with banks that i found are with chase, huntington bank, capital one, and bank of america

there might be more! these are just the ones i found

be sure your bonus code is applied during your application (varies by bank) and be sure to follow the steps and rules to receive your bonus!!!

be aware that some bonuses depending on the bank may be taxable

... Read moreHey everyone! Following up on my post about snagging a $400 bonus from Chase, I wanted to share even more tips and tricks I've learned about maximizing these checking account sign-up offers. It's truly a game-changer for boosting your savings or tackling debt, and it feels like effortlessly earning money, just like the image hinted at for 2026! I've been diving deeper into how these personal checking account bonuses work, and it's not just Chase that's offering sweet deals. As you saw, banks like Huntington, Capital One, and Bank of America have fantastic promotions too, often ranging from $250 to a whopping $600! The key is understanding the requirements, which often include specific direct deposit amounts within a certain timeframe (like Chase's $1,000 in 90 days or Huntington's $500 to $25,000 for their highest bonus, or Capital One's two $500 deposits). Sometimes, you also need to keep the account open for a minimum period, which, for Capital One, is 135 days. Always double-check the fine print for deadlines, too, like the 4/15/26 for some Chase offers or 3/15/26 for Huntington, and 1/31/25 for Bank of America. One common requirement is a 'direct deposit.' This usually means a deposit from an employer, payroll provider, or government benefits. Transfers from other bank accounts you own often don't count. My trick? I set up a small portion of my paycheck to go directly into the new account. Once the bonus hits my account, I then decide if I want to keep the account or transfer the funds elsewhere. Remember, the image with the sleeping cats mentioned there's usually no penalty to close the account after receiving the bonus, which is fantastic for managing multiple offers! Speaking of multiple offers, this is where it gets really interesting for anyone looking to make a significant dent in their credit card debt or save for a big goal. While I started with Chase, I'm already looking into offers from other major banks. Although I specifically detailed Chase, Huntington, Capital One, and Bank of America in my last post, don't forget to keep an eye out for current checking account sign-up bonuses from other big players like Wells Fargo and Citi. Their offers can be just as competitive! A quick search on their official websites for "new checking account offers" or "bank bonuses" will usually show you what's available. Now, a crucial point often overlooked: taxes. The original post mentioned some bonuses might be taxable, and this is super important. Bank bonuses are typically considered interest income by the IRS, which means the bank will send you a 1099-INT form if you receive $10 or more in bonuses/interest. So, when you're calculating how much you're 'effortlessly earning,' remember to set aside a portion for taxes! My personal strategy involves using a spreadsheet to track everything: which bank, the bonus amount, the direct deposit requirements, the opening date, the date I expect the bonus, and when I can close the account without penalty. This helps me stay organized and ensures I don't miss any steps to claim my cash. It truly feels like a smart money hack for anyone looking to boost their finances without much effort. Happy bonus hunting!
