what do you guys think, I think personally my kid won’t have any access to social media, until their 16, and will have parent controls. the internet sucks nowadays, and I want my kid to enjoy things outside of electronics anyways 💐

Teaching them about responsible internet use will empower them to make safe choices when they eventually join social media. Keeping an ongoing dialogue about their online experiences can help parents stay informed about their children's digital lives. Tools like monitoring apps can aid in ensuring a safe online environment, but fostering trust and communication remains the key to successful parenting in the digital landscape.
To preface obviously I’m not talking about every single kid ever, I’m talking about generalities based off my own experiences. Also when I say kids I’m not referring to small children I’m speaking more so of middle school age and up. I’ve noticed that ultra strict parents tend to raise very sneaky kids. If a kid wants to get on the internet they’re going to find a way to get on the internet whether that be at a friends or at school or anywhere else they can. I think it’s more important to be very upfront about the dangers of the internet than to completely ban it. I also think it’s important to make sure your kids know that if they somehow find themselves in an unsafe situation on the internet they can come to you without fear.
