I don’t know how year after year just keeps getting better, but we are so grateful for it — and are so excited for what that means for the future. ✨
I’ve never done one of these recap, wrapped, year in review posts before but once I finished it I couldn’t help but smile like a total idiot for a WHILE and even get a bit glossy in the eyeballs… 🥹🤍. I mean, look at it. Those numbers aren’t just numbers — that’s a year of wedding couples we’ve planned with for MONTHS, some 1-2 years in advance who we saw down the aisle and celebrated all day long with— a year of families, new acquaintances and also so many returning past wedding couples with their growing families (in both human + furbaby numbers alike) * and all the hugs upon our reunion * — some of those are also legacy sessions for senior/terminal pets, some we got to document and love on for an afternoon who have since crossed the rainbow bridge — oh my… so many newborn sessions in there too, so I can’t help but think back on all of those sweet and soft quiet moments and discussions of us all just dreaming about the future together…
There were highs and lows (as in any year) — this post is definitely a fun representation of the highs. The lows however definitely don’t have any cute photos to share alongside them — We navigated all things health in 2024 and really had to learn on the fly how to prioritize self care + wellness again while balancing a business together. But we made it. 🙌
To all of the couples, families, furbaby parents who entrusted us with your memories for the first time this year or for the thousandth time this year — new or returning, we love and appreciate your love immensely. Thank you for making 2024 so dang special for us. We hope we made it special for you too. ✨📸
Also! To the fellow wedding pros / photographers we connected with at events or I had coffee (or several) with… thank you for the sense of community and support, as always! Can’t wait to squish you all in more hugs after even more wedding days together or after just connecting again in 2025.
... Read moreWhat an incredible journey it’s been reflecting on 2024! As I pieced together my own 'Year in Review,' I realized how much goes into capturing those precious 'pictures for the year 2024.' If you’re looking to create your own photographic recap, or just curious about what a busy year behind the lens truly entails, here are some thoughts and tips from my experience.
First off, compiling your own photo year in review is such a rewarding process. I started by gathering all my images, not just the 'perfect' ones. Think about moments that made you smile, learn, or even tear up a little. For me, that meant revisiting everything from joyful wedding day candids – like those 46 weddings we documented – to quiet, tender newborn sessions. Don't forget those quirky observations and lessons learned, like realizing 'no more cheese for our pups' or the importance of a morning coffee run! Your review isn't just about showing off; it's about remembering. Grouping photos by theme, like 'places' (hello Mexico, California, Colorado, Jamaica, Florida, and Georgia!) or 'people' (families, furbabies, returning couples), can make it feel more cohesive and tell a richer story.
Looking back at the sheer volume—281 sessions and culling through 2.8 million images—it really highlights the dedication and love poured into each moment. This past year taught me invaluable lessons beyond just technical photography. It reinforced the importance of connection, not only with our couples and families but also within the wider community of fellow wedding pros. Navigating health challenges while balancing a business was a huge lesson in prioritizing self-care, a theme that truly resonated with me. It’s not just about the output, but the journey of getting there, managing the highs and lows.
For those of you also setting goals for 2025, I’m right there with you. My top priorities include to 'POST MORE' and to 'elevate' every aspect of my work. What does 'elevate' mean for me? It's about refining my craft, exploring new creative angles, and continuing to build strong, supportive relationships with everyone I work with. It's about finding new ways to tell unique stories, whether it's through a vibrant wedding album or a heartfelt legacy session for a beloved pet.
Ultimately, these 'pictures for the year 2024' are more than just images; they are snapshots of growth, gratitude, and dreams. I hope this peek behind the curtain gives you some inspiration, whether you’re celebrating your own milestones or planning your next photographic adventure. Here’s to making 2025 even more incredible!
