In Memory Of My Grampa 🙏❤️🕊️

On March,12th heaven gained an angel. My beloved grandfather the one who helped raised me, the one who brought my grandmother and biological father to America to escape the Khmer Rouge, the one who fought in the Vietnam War, the one who works at the US Embassy and sponsored several Cambodian Refugees. He was more than just a grandfather he was like a father to me and has done so much for me and our family. He made sure everyone was taken care of. He inspired me to become the man I am today and was my rock through the good and bad times. We went on multiple trips to our farm while growing up, hanging out at my grandmothers restaurant and making his and my grandmothers house (which they they’ve built back in 1979) my 2nd home and so many more. There are so many memories I’ve made with him and I will cherish every single one of them. Until we meet again grampa. 🙏❤️🕊️

My grandfather’s journey—from escaping the horrors of the Khmer Rouge to serving at the US Embassy and helping Cambodian refugees—highlights the resilience and kindness that defined him. One of the most powerful lessons I learned from him was the importance of perseverance through adversity. His experience fighting in the Vietnam War and later working to bring family to safety reminded me how courage can lead to profound change. This legacy of strength and selflessness has inspired many in our family, encouraging us to support each other and pursue our goals with determination. Spending time at the farm, visiting my grandmother’s restaurant, and feeling at home in the house they built back in 1979 created memories that are priceless. These simple yet profound moments taught me the value of family bonds and maintaining cultural roots despite challenges. For anyone experiencing similar loss or honoring their heritage, it’s vital to hold onto stories and memories that keep our loved ones alive in our hearts. Sharing their stories with younger generations or writing down these personal histories can create a lasting tribute that educates and inspires. In essence, my grandfather was not just a relative but a guiding star—a 'STAR' in our lives—illuminating the path with love, courage, and unwavering support. His legacy encourages us to give back and cherish every moment with those we hold dear until we meet again.
