Christmas Tree Meringues

These adorable Christmas Tree Meringues are light, crunchy, and perfect for holiday dessert tables or edible gifts!

Ingredients:

- 4 large egg whites, room temperature

- 1 cup granulated sugar

- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

- Green gel food coloring

- Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions:

1. In a clean, grease-free bowl, beat the egg whites with mixer on medium speed until frothy.

2. Add the cream of tartar and continue beating.

3. Gradually add the sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, while beating on high speed.

4. Beat until stiff, glossy peaks form (about 5-7 minutes). The mixture should be smooth and shiny.

5. Add the vanilla extract and a few drops of green gel food coloring. Gently fold or beat until the color is evenly distributed. Adjust the shade as desired.

6. Transfer the meringue into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip (like Wilton 1M or 2D).

7. Pipe with a wide base and build upward in layers, ending in a peak.

8. Before baking, add sprinkles or edible stars to the meringues to act as "ornaments" or a tree topper.

9. Bake for 1 hour at 225°F, then turn off the oven and let the meringues sit inside for another hour to dry completely. Avoid opening the oven door to prevent cracking.
