5 Steps On How I Became a Nurse

When I look back, becoming a nurse wasn’t just about passing exams, it was about small choices and big sacrifices that built my path. Here’s how I did it, step by step:

1. Deciding Nursing Was For Me 🩺

I didn’t grow up always knowing I’d be a nurse. But in high school, I loved helping people, and I wanted a career where I’d never feel stuck. Nursing checked every box: flexible, meaningful, and challenging in the best way.

2. Getting a Head Start in High School 🎓

My school actually offered college-level courses while I was still in high school (and for free!). I signed up for every one I could handle. Looking back, that decision saved me so much money and time.

3. Applying to Nursing School ✍️

This was scary. I remember hitting submit and praying I’d get in. I also applied for every grant and scholarship possible, because the last thing I wanted was drowning in debt. I didn’t get them all, but every little bit helped.

4. Surviving Nursing School 📚

Let me tell you, nothing prepares you for the first time you walk into a patient’s room as a student nurse. It’s nerve-wracking, but also such a proud moment. Nursing school tested me mentally, physically, and emotionally. I cried, I questioned myself, but I pushed through.

5. Passing the NCLEX + Finally Becoming an RN 🎉

That last step, the NCLEX, felt like the longest wait of my life. But I’ll never forget seeing the word PASS. It made every late night, every tear, every “I don’t know if I can do this” worth it.

💛 Now here I am, a nurse. And if you’re dreaming about this path too, know that it’s tough, but it’s so worth it. #lemon8partner #nursesoflemon8 #nurselife #nurseadvice #nurselife
