Grease Rehearsals | Playing “Sandy”
After going through some deeply unsettling ‘Hollywood’ experiences that really shook my trust in the industry, I stepped away to heal and reconnect with myself. In 2020, I was diagnosed with severe laryngopharyngeal reflux, which affected my voice (I lost a portion of my middle range) and it added another layer to my journey. But during that year, I decided to return and auditioned for the role of Sandy in Grease.
That decision led to two unforgettable years filled with growth, joy, and truly beautiful memories. Showcased here are some very early stages to what would have been the stage production and portion of this project, not just the screen and film 🎞️ aspect of this experience.

Playing Sandy, the female lead, challenges performers to embody innocence, charm, and emotional depth. One significant challenge in this journey can be health issues affecting the voice. Conditions like laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) can impact an actor's vocal range and stamina, as experienced by this performer who lost part of her middle vocal register. Proper diagnosis and therapy, including voice rest and medical treatment, are crucial to returning to peak performance. Rehearsals not only nurture individual talent but also foster ensemble chemistry essential for stage productions. Changes in production teams, directors, or cast members—as noted in this experience—often lead to shifts in interpretation and dynamics, requiring adaptability and professionalism from actors. Additionally, the role of Sandy has been immortalized by icons such as Olivia Newton-John in the 1978 film adaptation, influencing audience expectations and inspiring actors worldwide. Embracing this legacy while infusing personal authenticity creates a unique and memorable portrayal.
