Lord of the Thundercats 


Okay, fellow collectors and Thundercats fanatics, I absolutely had to share my latest acquisition: the Super7 Deluxe Lion-O figure! When I first heard Super7 was tackling the Thundercats line, I knew my wallet was in trouble, but honestly, it's been worth every penny. This isn't just any Lion-O; it's the 'Lord of the Thundercats' in all his glory, and Super7 truly delivered on the 'deluxe' promise. From the moment I unboxed him, I was blown away. The packaging itself is a callback to the classic era, which instantly hit me with a wave of nostalgia. But it's what's inside that counts, right? And this Lion-O does not disappoint. The sculpt is absolutely phenomenal, capturing his iconic look from the animated series perfectly. The vibrant colors, the detailed musculature, even the determined expression on his face – it's all there. What really sets this figure apart for action figure photography, beyond the stunning sculpt, is the articulation. He’s got so many points of articulation, allowing for incredibly dynamic poses. I spent hours just playing around, trying to recreate some of his most famous stances. The joints are solid, not too loose, not too stiff, which is crucial when you’re trying to balance him wielding the Sword of Omens. And speaking of accessories, wow! You get both the Sword of Omens (long and dagger form!), a Claw Shield with interchangeable blades, multiple swap-out hands (gripping, gesturing, relaxed), and even an alternate head! This means endless possibilities for display and, of course, for some truly epic toy photography. For anyone looking to dive into action figure photography, this Lion-O is a dream. My personal tip is to play around with different lighting – I found that a simple LED desk lamp can create some dramatic shadows that really make the figure pop. Also, don't be afraid to use household items for backdrops. A dark cloth, a piece of cardboard, or even just a plain wall can become the perfect setting for your Thundercats hero. Posing is key; try to imagine him in action, mid-battle or rallying his team. The more expressive the pose, the more life you breathe into the plastic. I've collected a few Lion-O figures over the years, from vintage LJN to some of the more recent releases, but this Super7 version truly feels like the definitive Lion-O for an adult collector. It captures the essence of the character while offering modern articulation and incredible detail. If you're on the fence about picking this one up, don't hesitate. It's a fantastic piece for any Thundercats fan or action figure enthusiast, and it's brought so much joy to my display shelf and my photography sessions.
