Dear Diary, let’s try barre

Hey 👋🏾 So technically this isn’t my *very* first barre class but it has been a couple years…

I’ve been feeling guilty for falling off of my exercise routine and trying to figure out how to get back into it. #lowimpactworkouts have been getting the spotlight lately & I thought it would be the perfect way to re-introduce my body to #exercise !

I booked the class through #classpass because they are doing a free trial right now. PS if you’re interested use my link -> Hey! Have you heard of ClassPass? They’re giving an exclusive free trial (with 20 bonus credits!) only available to friends of mine. https://classpass.com/refer/IE1DKNA118

Review:

Both my body and I loved doing this class! It was challenging as I haven’t been moving my body appropriately but it instantly made me want to get back to it. The staff + the instructor were so welcoming and it felt genuine! I was told to listen to my body #mindfulness and take breaks as needed… trust me I know this is a process 😅 I especially loved the cool down after the work is completed #stretching I think this will be my motivation to keep going!

... Read moreHey everyone! We all know that feeling, right? That little pang of guilt when you’ve fallen off your exercise routine and are trying to figure out how to get back into it. I’ve been there, and honestly, finding a workout that feels right for your body is half the battle. That's why I decided to revisit barre, specifically a Barre3 class, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions to rekindle my fitness journey. Why Low-Impact Workouts Like Barre Are a Game Changer For anyone looking to ease back into exercise or find a sustainable routine, low-impact workouts are incredible. They're gentle on your joints but don't compromise on effectiveness. Barre, in particular, focuses on small, isometric movements that build strength, endurance, and flexibility without the high impact of jumping or running. My recent “first barre class” experience (well, first in a long time!) at Barre3 reminded me just how impactful these subtle movements can be. The constant engagement of muscles makes it feel incredibly “challenging but rewarding” – truly a full-body workout that leaves you feeling strong, not depleted. Beyond the physical benefits, barre often incorporates elements of mindfulness. As the instructor encouraged, listening to your body and taking breaks when needed is crucial. This mindful approach helps prevent injury and builds a healthier relationship with exercise, making you genuinely look forward to your next session. Getting Started (or Restarted) with Barre: Tips & Tricks If you're thinking about trying barre, here are a few things I learned (or relearned!): Listen to Your Body: This is paramount, especially if you're returning after a break. Don't push yourself too hard too soon. It’s a process, and consistency beats intensity any day. Don't Be Afraid to Modify: Instructors are usually fantastic at offering variations for different levels. If a move feels too intense, ask for a modification or simply reduce your range of motion. Everyone starts somewhere! Wear the Right Gear: Comfortable athletic wear is key, and grip socks are highly recommended to prevent slipping and help you hold poses. Most studios, like Barre3, offer them for purchase if you forget. Hydrate & Stretch: That post-class soreness is real (my body was definitely sore 😅!). Drinking plenty of water and incorporating dedicated stretching, especially after class, can make a huge difference in your recovery. I loved the cool-down stretching after my Barre3 class – it was exactly what my muscles needed. Exploring Studios with Platforms like ClassPass Using platforms like ClassPass has been a game-changer for me in exploring different studios and types of workouts without a long-term commitment. The free trials and bonus credits they offer are a fantastic way to try out places like Barre3. It lowers the barrier to entry and allows you to find a studio and a class style that truly resonates with you. It’s how I found my way back to Barre3, and I highly recommend checking out similar offers if you’re on the fence about starting a new fitness routine. Overall, getting back on the mat for that Signature 45 class at Barre3 was exactly what I needed. It was a wonderful reminder that fitness journeys are not linear, and it's okay to take breaks. What matters is finding joy in movement again and discovering what truly motivates you. I’m already “looking forward to the next one”!
