Wow, what an inspiring experience at GUMA 2025 - Week 2! Seeing all these incredible entrepreneurs in Guam bring their 'Draw Your Dream' visions to life really fills me with so much hope and excitement for our island's future. It wasn't just about putting ideas on paper; it was about laying the groundwork for real, impactful businesses right here on Guam. For those who might not know, GUMA, or Guam Unique Merchandise & Arts, is such a vital initiative. It's designed to nurture and elevate local businesses, helping them refine their products, marketing, and overall business strategies. This program is truly instrumental in empowering our community members to transform "OUR VISION" into tangible success stories. Programs like this are the backbone of a thriving local economy, fostering innovation and providing crucial support to our talented artisans and entrepreneurs. Participating in GUMA, especially during "WEEK 2," gives these small businesses a fantastic platform to develop and showcase their unique offerings. It’s not just a workshop; it’s a journey where ideas are cultivated, refined, and prepared for the market. Imagine the courage and dedication it takes for these individuals to step forward and "Draw Your Dream" for everyone to see! But it’s not just up to GUMA to make these dreams a reality; we, as consumers, play a huge role in supporting our local economy. When you choose to #supportlocal, you're not just buying a product; you're investing directly back into our community. You're helping families, creating jobs, and ensuring that the unique culture and creativity of Guam continue to flourish. Every purchase keeps money circulating within the island, strengthening our independence and resilience. So, how can you actively join me in supporting these amazing #MadeOnGuam businesses, even if you can't attend GUMA events? It's simpler than you might think! Shop Local First: Before heading to bigger chains, check if a local business offers what you need. From skincare to food to art, Guam has a wealth of talented creators. Spread the Word: Share your positive experiences with friends and family. Social media shout-outs are free and incredibly powerful. Tag them, leave a review – every little bit helps! Engage Online: Follow local businesses on Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms. Like their posts, comment, and share their updates. This boosts their visibility without costing you a thing. Visit Local Markets: Keep an eye out for pop-up markets, farmers' markets, and craft fairs. These are fantastic places to discover new businesses and meet the creators face-to-face. Try Local Eateries: Guam's food scene is vibrant! Explore local restaurants, cafes, and food trucks. Give Feedback: Constructive feedback can be invaluable for small businesses looking to improve. The passion and creativity I witnessed during GUMA 2025, Week 2, were truly inspiring. Let's make sure these dreams don't just stay on paper. Let's actively champion our local talent and help them grow. By doing so, we're building a stronger, more vibrant Guam for everyone. I encourage you to check out some of the businesses I mentioned and discover even more on your own. Let's keep the spirit of #supportlocal alive and thriving!
