Must Try This Fried Chicken in NYC‼️

📍 Mr Dak

Today, my friend and I stumbled upon this super cool fried chicken pub that’s got the vibe! The atmosphere was perfect with dim lighting, lots of neon signs, and two big screens playing the game. It felt like the ultimate chill spot!

The owner is a Korean guy, and the menu has so many sauces for the fried chicken. But when we saw the fried chicken + tteokbokki set for just $37, we had to go for it—great deal! We also added truffle fries and a few small side dishes.

The fried chicken was super juicy and crispy (not made with chicken breast, but with meat that has a bit of oil in it, which makes it so flavorful). The scallion fried chicken was a pleasant surprise, really tasty! The stir-fried rice cakes (tteokbokki) had the perfect texture—soft and chewy with the perfect balance of sauce.

... Read moreStepping into Mr. Dak, the atmosphere immediately tells you you're in for a good time. The dim lighting washes over the space, creating a cozy yet energetic pub vibe, perfect for unwinding. My eyes were drawn to the vibrant glow of the neon signs scattered throughout, each one adding to the cool, urban aesthetic. It’s the kind of place where you can easily forget the hustle and bustle of NYC outside. With two large screens prominently displaying games, it felt like the ultimate casual hangout spot, whether you're with friends or on a date night. The bar area, lined with an impressive selection of bottles, hinted at a great drink menu, though our focus was entirely on the delicious food ahead. Even with a few empty tables with chairs during our visit, the energy felt inviting and lively. And let me tell you, the food looked just as incredible as the atmosphere felt! For anyone searching for 'Mr. Dak photos,' you’re in for a visual treat. Our spread was definitely Instagram-worthy. The star, without a doubt, was the scallion fried chicken. Each piece was a masterpiece of golden-brown crispiness, coated in a savory sauce and generously adorned with bright green chopped scallions. It was served in a rustic metal dish, which added to the authentic, casual dining experience. Just looking at it, you could tell it was going to be juicy on the inside, and it absolutely was! Alongside the chicken, the tteokbokki arrived in a bubbling metal pan, a vivid splash of fiery red. The stir-fried rice cakes were plump and chewy, perfectly coated in their spicy sauce, interspersed with tender fish cakes and more fresh scallions. The steam rising from it made it even more enticing, a true comfort food spectacle. Then came the supporting characters that totally rounded out our meal. The golden-brown truffle fries were a revelation, served hot and crispy in their own small basket. The earthy aroma of truffle oil was divine, and they came with a neat little white cup of ketchup for dipping. To balance all that richness, we had the essential Korean side dishes: refreshing pickled radish, offering a zesty crunch; a vibrant corn salad that was sweet and creamy; and a cool, classic coleslaw. Every single element on the table contributed to a visually appealing and utterly delicious feast. If you’re looking for a spot with amazing vibes and even better-looking (and tasting!) Korean fried chicken in NYC, Mr. Dak is definitely it. You won't be disappointed by what you see—or taste!
