Take this medication, then another…

We are way too over medicated in this country.

Doctors are always trying to prescribe something, then you need another prescription and then another one for the side effects of the first one… It’s a never ending cycle because we’re treating symptoms and not the root cause.

#pov #no #neveragain #cipro #awareness

... Read moreIn today's fast-paced medical landscape, many patients find themselves caught in a vicious cycle of over-medication. It’s common for healthcare providers to prescribe one medication, which leads to the necessity of another to manage side effects, perpetuating a growing list of prescriptions. A significant concern is that this approach often treats symptoms rather than the underlying cause of health issues. For instance, patients with anxiety might be prescribed antidepressants such as Cipro without delving into potential root causes like lifestyle factors, nutritional deficiencies, or psychological stressors. This situation highlights the importance of patient advocacy and awareness. Consumers must question their treatment plans and seek second opinions or alternative therapies that address the full scope of their health. Empowering oneself with knowledge about medication intentions, potential side effects, and the importance of holistic healthcare can lead to more effective management of symptoms without the burden of multiple prescriptions. Moreover, discussions within communities about health experiences can foster greater awareness of over-medication. Platforms such as forums encourage patients to share their stories and advice, highlighting the need for a more thoughtful approach to prescribing practices. In many cases, lifestyle changes, counseling, and natural remedies can provide relief without resorting to an endless cycle of medications. Ultimately, fostering an environment where healthcare strategies prioritize root cause remediation over a mere prescription pad is vital for the well-being and autonomy of patients.

Is medication enough… or do I need more than that?
Living with lupus is hard because… there’s no cure. That reality hits different. The meds don’t “fix” it they just help me survive it. The steroids control the flare-ups, keep my inflammation down, and help me get through the day. And I’m grateful for that. But I’m also honest with myself:
