2. Spoon and level method: Use a spoon to fluff your flour, fluff it into the measuring cup until it overflows, and scrape the excess off with a flat knife.
Making cupcakes from scratch can sometimes feel overwhelming, but this 3-ingredient Nutella cupcake recipe proves that simplicity and taste can go hand in hand. I've tried this recipe several times, and what I love most is how minimal the ingredients are while delivering a rich, chocolatey hazelnut flavor. One tip I’ve found useful is to make sure you properly spoon and level the self-rising flour as described—this ensures your cupcakes come out tender and fluffy, not dense. Also, I experimented with adding a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness, which enhanced the Nutella flavor beautifully. If you want to take these cupcakes to the next level, try pairing them with a Nutella buttercream frosting as suggested in the notes. I whisked together softened butter, powdered sugar, and a generous spoonful of Nutella, and it created an incredibly smooth and luscious frosting that complemented the cupcakes perfectly. When baking, keep an eye on the cupcakes starting at 15 minutes to avoid overbaking; a toothpick test is your best friend here. I also like to let them cool completely before frosting—this prevents any frosting from melting and keeps the texture just right. These cupcakes have become a favourite quick treat at home, especially when I'm short on time but want to impress family or friends. Minimal effort, maximum flavor, and just three ingredients make it a must-try recipe for Nutella lovers and baking beginners alike.
