Writers, Let’s Talk About the Struggles 😂

I’ve been writing since middle school, and the hardest part for me has always been developing a story without getting stuck in planning mode. Now, I want to help make writers’ lives easier—whether it’s through simple references (like the difference between urban and suburban), organization tips, or just having a resource to come back to when you’re stuck.

This post is just the beginning—I want to hear from YOU. What problems do you run into when writing? 👇

... Read moreWriting a story or book can often feel like a daunting task, especially when you're trying to balance creativity with structure. One of the frequent struggles many writers face is getting stuck in the planning phase, which prevents actual progress in drafting. This happens because the desire to capture every detail perfectly before writing can create a freeze point, a common stumbling block in the journey from concept to completed work. Another challenge shared by writers is the difficulty in authentically representing the essence of their characters, particularly when it involves exploring unfamiliar career fields or lifestyles. Doing thorough research or even conducting interviews can be invaluable here, helping the writer portray their characters convincingly without falling into stereotypes. Organizational strategies are key to maintaining focus and momentum. Many successful writers recommend a dedicated space—like a writing wall or a storyboard—where book ideas can be visualized. This method helps concentrate energy on one project at a time, preventing the overwhelm that comes from juggling multiple storylines or concepts. Utilizing digital tools such as writing apps and project management platforms also supports keeping track of characters, plot points, and timelines. Equally important is participating in community discussions, such as those found in the #WritersOfTikTok or #WritingCommunity circles. Engaging with peers who understand the unique challenges of writing can offer encouragement, fresh perspectives, and practical advice. Sharing your struggles and solutions contributes to a collective knowledge base that benefits everyone. Lastly, embracing imperfection during initial drafts allows writers to keep moving forward without the pressure of immediate perfection. Editing and refining come later; the first step is to get the story onto the page. Overall, addressing common writing issues—from planning paralysis to organizational hurdles and character authenticity—requires a blend of strategic approaches and community support. By continually learning and applying new techniques, writers can transform their challenges into stepping stones toward publishing success.

The hardest part is when you're writing and someone compares it to another book you've never heard of and they say that you're: "Trying to rewrite that book".

I can't think of a good and simple BUT unique name for my main 3 characters: Irys, Alric, and Florenze...the story takes place in a mythical land with dragons and magic. I don't want something super unique but something also not super common
