What do you need to be a developer?

Anyone who wants to step into this line of work but doesn't know where to start? This post outlines 4 key pillars that all developers need to know. I assure you that if you understand these 4 things, the work will be a lot easier!

1.Algorithm & Data Structures

Imagine that we have a lot of stuff and have to organize it easily. Data Structures is a "box" that we use to keep the data organized. Algorithm is a clear working "step" to solve the problem.

Data Structures to know:

Arrays: Lined Storage Boxes

Linked Lists: Connected Boxes as Wires

Stacks: A box that picks up the last item put in, goes out first (LIFO)

Queues: A box that picks up the first item put in and out first (FIFO)

Trees & Graphs: Complex Connected Boxes

Algorithm to know:

Searching Algorithms: How to Find Information, such as Linear Search, Binary Search

Sorting Algorithms: How to sort data, such as Bubble Sort, Quick Sort

2. Operating Systems

The operating system (OS) is the manager of our computer 💻, whether Windows, macOS or Linux. The OS is responsible for managing various machine resources, such as:

Process: Manage running programs

Memory: Allocate memory to different programs.

File System: Organize files and folders for us to use easily.

If we understand this, we will know why some programs are slow and find solutions.

3. Computer Network

Computer Network is to connect computers together so that they communicate and send information to each other. 🌐 Think about when we play the Internet, send emails or play online games. Everything works on a network basis.

The main hearts to know:

IP Address: The address of the computer in the network.

Protocols: Communication rules in networks such as TCP / IP, HTTP

Routing: Data Transmission Route

4. Practice and application

Knowledge would be worthless if it wasn't practical!

Start with a small project: try to create a simple program that requires Algorithm to solve a problem, or create a website that needs to be connected to a database.

Read other people's code: Try studying code in the Open Source project to learn new techniques.
