Best House Plants for Beginners

* House plants are excellent in the Fact that they improve mental and physical health, enhance air quality in the home and also help increase focus and creativity, House plants reduce stress, improve mood, provide a connection to nature Inside and reduce airborne allergens.

* Each plant has a difficulty level. The ones I'll be talking about are Very easy and Resilient. These also thrive on neglect. Each plant also has a species.

••Snake Plant

Snake plants are great at air puritication, removing toxins lihe carbon monoxide, benzene, and formaldehyde. Snake Plants produce Oxygen at night and make good bedroom plants. They are native to Africa and Asia. They are also toxic to cats and dogs. Snake plants can grow to 3ft tall and live up-to 10 years with good care. Snake plants typically like full sun but this can cause sun burn. Snake Plonts can survive in bedrooms and bathrooms but prefer partial sunlit (bright indirect sunlight) areas. Their ideal temperatures for a room are 8-100° F but can tolerate 41-109°F. Snake Plants also prefer low humidity. A snake Plant is actually a succount so they need succulent- cacti soil or a well draining mixture. Snake Plants also Like to be a tad root bound. Typically you only water a snake plant when their soil is practically dry. Overwatering it can kill it. These plants THRIVE on neglect.

••Spider Plant

Spider plants are common beginner plants. Spider plants are definitely the easiest. Spider plants absorb pollutants, and purify the air. They also help increase humidity which helps your skin and respiratory system in the winter months. A spider plant also helps reduce stress. Spider plants prefer partial sun (bright indirect sunlight) but can tolerate full shade. Their ideal temperatures are 68-100 degrees Fahrenheit but can tolerate 32-109. The spider plant itself needs a medium humidity room to survive. You can use a regular plant soil mix and they will tell you when they need to be repotted. Water a spider plant every 8-10 days or when the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry. They can live up to 25 years and are non-toxic to pets.

••Dieffenbachia

Dieffenbachia Plants are super easy plants to grow! Dieffenbachia also go by "dumbcane" however the term dumbcane is racist. The Dieffenbachia plant was used as a tool of punishment during slavery. With that being stated I'll call this plant the Dieffenbachia. Dieffenbachia plants purify the air, regulate humidity, and help in stress relief. A Dieffenbachia is a tropical plant native to central and South America. Dieffenbachia plants prefer full shade, but can tolerate partial sun (bright indirect sunlight). Their ideal temperatures are 68 to 100°F, but can tolerate 41 to 109°F. They're potting soil is normal potting mix soil and they can grow to 3 to 10 feet tall. They can spread 23 to 35 inches wide. Dieffenbachia should be watered every 10 days or when the first one to 2 inches of topsoil is dry. These are fast growing plants and are toxic to pets.

••Pothos

Pothos plants purify the air and also remove toxins. Pothos are toxic to dogs and cats. They prefer full shade, but can tolerate partial sun (Indirect bright sun) A golden Pothos grows gold streaks while in the sun, however, can become sunburnt. A pothos like the ideal temperature of 6205°F, but can tolerate 41 to 113°F. Pothos plants like high humidity and should be watered every 8 to 10 days or when the first one to 2 inches of soil are dry. Pothos like regular potting soil mix. Pothos are also very fast growers and vine out. When they find out they like to climb. Pothos plants are typically hung so they can grow along the wall or some owners even put string up to allow their plants to climb. A pothos can live up to ten years even longer when taken well care of! Pothos are native to Mo'orea a french polynesian island

••ZZ Plant

A ZZ plant also known as a Zamioculcas Zamiifola is native to East Africa and symbolize growth and prosperity. ZZ plants also purify the air. ZZ plants prefer full shade to bright indirect light and prefer temperatures of 68-105 degrees Fahrenheit. They can tolerate 41-113 degree's Fahrenheit. ZZ plants need to be planted in well draining soil or cacti succulent soil mix. They can grow 11-23 inches tall and spread 22-47 inches wide. Water every 18 days or when the top soil is 1-2 inches dry. ZZ plants thrive in indirect bright light but can survive in full shade. The best thing about a ZZ plant is they are slow growers so you don't have to repot as often as you would other plants. ZZ plants are considered safe for pets however if ingested can cause upset stomach.
