Reclamation Day

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes!

Today is my 43rd birthday, and more importantly, it is my Reclamation Day.

For the last two years, I have been on a journey of self-reflection, healing, growth, and self-improvement. Some lessons came easily, while others were learned through heartbreak, loss, setbacks, and hard truths. Every step, however, has brought me closer to the person I was always meant to be.

I am not finished yet. There is still more healing to do, more goals to reach, and more growth ahead of me.

But today, I claim the second half of my life for myself.

I reclaim my voice.

I reclaim my confidence.

I reclaim my health.

I reclaim my dreams.

I reclaim the space I occupy in this world.

No more shrinking to make others comfortable. No more apologizing for existing. No more waiting for permission to become who I am.

Chapter One taught me how to survive.

Chapter Two is about learning how to fully live.

Here’s to 43. Here’s to growth. Here’s to becoming. Here’s to reclamation.

... Read moreTurning 43 and marking it as Reclamation Day symbolizes a powerful commitment to personal growth and self-empowerment. From my own experience, dedicating time to self-reflection and healing can dramatically shift how we view ourselves and the life ahead. It’s not just about surviving hardships or setbacks but about embracing every lesson they bring to cultivate confidence and strength. One of the most impactful realizations I had was understanding the importance of reclaiming my voice—not only speaking up for myself but also listening to my inner needs and desires. This process often requires patience and courage because it challenges the habits of shrinking away to accommodate others or apologizing for simply existing. In the journey of reclamation, renewing confidence in oneself and in one’s goals is vital. Setting new ambitions or revisiting old dreams with fresh energy allows us to define the space we occupy in the world on our own terms. This can mean pursuing educational opportunities, career changes, or creative passions that once felt out of reach. Moreover, prioritizing health—both mental and physical—is foundational. Healing is multifaceted; it’s about nurturing the body as much as it is about repairing emotional wounds. Self-care routines, mindfulness practices, and support networks contribute significantly to sustaining this growth. Ultimately, marking a personal Reclamation Day like this one is a profound declaration of living fully and authentically. It’s a reminder that every chapter of life offers the chance to rewrite our stories, not just for survival but for thriving and becoming our truest selves.
