Tips I wish I knew before buying a PC/Laptop

Trying to find a PC/Build a PC or Looking for a Laptop can be like going down a rabbit hole 🕳️ I’m no computer guru (yet lol) but…

Here’s some of the basics I wanted to share for the next time you’re out searching!

Ram is the most important and the runner up is storage!

💎16gb is barely cutting it with some of these AAA title games so 32gb is the new minimum. If it’s within your budget I say go for 64gb to somewhat future proof.

💎Refresh rate depending on if your gaming/editing may be a top priority.

💎Another tip I forgot to mention is the processor. To each is own and I’m no red (AMD) or blue (intel) Stan. What I will say is while I’m getting ready to build my PC I will be going with an intel i9 for my processor due to my use cases being editing/productivity and gaming.

SSDs (Solid State Drives) provide faster access speeds and better durability compared to traditional HDDs (Hard Disk Drives). If you're videographing in 4K or dealing with large files frequently, consider a minimum of 512GB storage, but ideally you should look for 1TB or higher to accommodate larger projects and future needs. The refresh rate of your display affects how smooth visuals appear during gaming or video editing. For gamers, a refresh rate of 144Hz is recommended; while for casual use, a standard 60Hz is typically sufficient. However, if you're streaming or otherwise engaging with high-frame-rate content, your monitor refresh rate will significantly impact your experience. Performance also heavily relies on the CPU (processor). While it’s often debated whether AMD or Intel is superior, the Intel i9 series provides exceptional power for gaming and productivity alike, making it a compelling choice for those looking to edit, stream, or game competitively. Always keep in mind these specifications match your personal or professional use cases. Whether you’re building from scratch or buying pre-built, having the right features is key to ensuring your new PC or laptop meets your needs!
