My Baby's Hair Journey

It's so fascinating how much our little ones change in just a few months, isn't it? As a new mom, every tiny detail, from their first smile to their hair texture, becomes a huge topic of curiosity! Like many of you, I found myself constantly wondering what my baby's hair would be like, especially since my husband and I have such different hair types. We started with a newborn who had surprisingly dark, straight hair, and I remember thinking, "Will it ever curl?" Many parents, particularly first-time moms, share this wonder. You might have a straight hair baby at birth and then notice surprising developments. It's common for babies to be born with fine, often straight, lanugo hair that eventually gives way to their true hair texture. For my little one, the first hint of change came around 3 months. His hair, which was still relatively straight, started to show a slight wave, especially when moistened. It wasn't full-blown curls yet, but it definitely had a new textured hair feel to it, and those slight curls when wet were a significant sign of curly hair in babies for me! By 5 months, it was undeniable. After bath time, his hair would dry into beautiful loose curls, particularly around his ears and the nape of his neck. For babies with dark, textured hair, a little bit of baby-friendly leave-in conditioner can help keep frizz at bay and define those emerging curls. I also use a super soft baby brush or my fingers to gently detangle, avoiding any pulling on their delicate hair. It's all about nurturing those strands as they grow and mature. It’s been such an exciting baby hair journey for us, and I can't wait to see how his curls develop as he gets older.
