✨ 6-Month Hair Growth Update! ✨

Six months ago, I cut my hair super short — my longest length was only about ½ an inch, with the rest tapered even shorter. It was a fresh start.

Fast forward to now… my hair has grown out about 4 inches, and I’m honestly shocked (in the best way!). Seeing this much growth in just half a year feels good.

This is your reminder that hair grows — even when it starts extremely short. Progress doesn’t always feel fast day-to-day, but when you look back, it adds up.

If you’re currently in your short-hair phase or thinking about starting over, this is your sign: trust the process.

✨ From half an inch to 4 inches.

✨ From tapered to growing out.

✨ Six months of progress.

When I cut my hair down to just half an inch, I wasn't sure how it would grow back or how long it would take to reach a noticeable length. Tracking progress over months helped me stay motivated, especially because day-to-day changes can feel slow. I found that embracing a gentle hair care routine that avoids harsh chemicals and excessive heat plays a huge role in encouraging healthy growth. Regular scalp massages with natural oils, such as castor or rosemary oil, improved blood circulation and encouraged stronger hair follicles. Consistency with moisturizing was key, especially using water-based leave-in conditioners combined with natural oils to seal moisture in. Protective styles helped reduce breakage during the growing-out phase by minimizing manipulation and environmental damage. Nutrition also impacted my hair’s growth; maintaining a balanced diet rich in vitamins, especially biotin, vitamin D, and iron, supported follicle health from within. For anyone currently in the short hair or big chop phase, remember that progress builds up quietly and steadily. Taking pictures monthly can reveal the true extent of your growth journey. Celebrate every inch gained and use this time to nurture your hair and scalp with patience and care. Trusting the process and listening to your hair’s needs, avoiding harsh products, and protecting your hair during sleep and styling will eventually pay off with healthy, longer hair. This 6-month milestone taught me the importance of patience, self-care, and embracing change — your hair can flourish beautifully from even the shortest beginnings.
