DIY Power Laundry Soap

2/24 Edited to

... Read moreMaking your own powder laundry soap is a fantastic way to control what goes into your cleaning products and reduce exposure to the synthetic chemicals commonly found in store-bought detergents. I’ve been using this DIY laundry soap recipe for months now and the results have been surprisingly great — clothes come out clean, fresh, and soft without any residue. What I like about this recipe is its simplicity and versatility. The main ingredients—Epsom salt, baking soda, washing soda (or borax), and sea salt—work together to tackle dirt, odors, and stains naturally. The Epsom salt helps soften water, baking soda neutralizes odors, washing soda boosts cleaning power, and sea salt acts as a natural fabric conditioner. Adding 20-25 drops of your favorite essential oils not only infuses your laundry with pleasant aromas but also adds antibacterial properties, depending on the oils you choose (lavender, tea tree, or lemon are popular options). Be sure to mix the ingredients thoroughly to evenly distribute the oils. For usage, I follow the suggested amount: 1 tablespoon per regular load and 2 tablespoons for larger or heavily soiled laundry. It’s gentle even on delicate fabrics and works well in both standard and high-efficiency washing machines. Storing the mixture in a sealed glass container keeps it dry and preserves the strength of the essential oils. Plus, making your own detergent significantly cuts down on plastic waste and saves money compared to purchasing commercial detergents. If you have sensitive skin, this DIY detergent is a great alternative to chemical-laden products. Just be sure to avoid essential oils you might react to, and do an initial patch test if you’re unsure. Overall, I highly recommend trying this DIY powder laundry soap if you want an easy, cost-effective, and natural way to keep your laundry fresh and clean without compromising environmental and personal health.
