Third Book Redemption

Have you guys ever read a book and the first one was the best, the second one dragged and the third one came back better than ever?

That would be the serpent and dove series for sure

⭐️Don’t get me wrong Blood and Honey was good but not great.

⭐️Lou and Reid were giving me heart palpitations. It’s giving Kim lost her diamond earring in the ocean and needed to be reminded PEOPLE ARE DYING.

⭐️third book was giving action, plot twist and a chefs kiss mwuah.😘

... Read moreAs a fellow bookworm, I've definitely been there – you pick up a series, fall head over heels for the first book, maybe struggle a bit with the second, and then hope the third one brings it all home. For me, that's exactly how my journey with Shelby Mahurin's New York Times Bestselling Serpent & Dove series unfolded. While the first book, *Serpent & Dove*, set a high bar with its unique premise and compelling characters, the second installment, *Blood & Honey*, felt like it had a bit of a sophomore slump. Don't get me wrong, Blood & Honey had its moments, but I found myself, like many others, sometimes frustrated with the pacing and the constant push-and-pull between Lou and Reid. It felt like they were perpetually misunderstanding each other, leading to a kind of emotional rollercoaster that, at times, felt more exhausting than exciting. I remember thinking, "Come on, guys, people are literally dying and you're still bickering!" It was a necessary part of their journey, I suppose, building tension, but it definitely tested my patience as a reader. However, let me tell you, Gods & Monsters – the third and final book – was a complete game-changer! From the very first chapter, it felt like Shelby Mahurin had injected a fresh surge of energy into the narrative. The action was relentless, the stakes were incredibly high, and the plot twists came flying at me from every direction, leaving me gasping. It was a masterclass in wrapping up a complex fantasy series, delivering a truly satisfying conclusion that tied up loose ends while still managing to surprise. What truly shone in Gods & Monsters was the character development, especially for Lou and Reid. After all the angst and trials in *Blood & Honey*, seeing them finally come into their own, trust each other implicitly, and fight for their future was incredibly rewarding. Their love story, flawed and fierce, truly became what I had hoped for from the start. The world-building, a unique blend of witches, the Church, and ancient magic, also expanded beautifully, making the final battle feel epic and earned. If you've been on the fence, perhaps feeling a bit disengaged after *Blood & Honey*, I implore you to pick up *Gods & Monsters*. It absolutely delivers on all the promises of the series. For anyone looking for a captivating enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance with high stakes and rich lore, the Serpent & Dove trilogy is a must-read, especially for that incredible third-book redemption. It's a journey through witch hunts, forbidden love, and discovering your true power. Have you read the series? What were your thoughts on the journey from Serpent & Dove to *Gods & Monsters*? I'd love to hear your favorite moments or what you thought about the ending!
