Waterless chicken soup recipe 🍲
Tried this viral recipe bcos I’m seeing it everywhere 😍
❣️ Naturally sweet & flavorful
❣️ No seasonings added
❣️ Suitable for kids & babies!
Ingredients:
- 2 small whole chicken or chicken parts
- 1 onion
- 1 apple
- 1/2 head of Napa cabbage (大白菜)
- Ginger slices
- 1 cup water
Optional (makes the soup sweeter):
- Red dates
- Goji berries
I cook it on soup mode with my pressure cooker and it was ready in 30 min! Smells amazing 🤩
⚠️ If you’re boiling the soup on the stove, be careful about the type of pot you use. I’ve seen people burn their soup by using the wrong one. The pot and lid should fit tightly, with no openings that allow steam to escape.

I’ve found that using a pressure cooker really brings out the natural sweetness and richness of the ingredients in this waterless chicken soup. The small amount of water ensures all the flavors are concentrated. I usually add ginger slices to enhance the aroma and digestion benefits. Sometimes I toss in red dates and goji berries to add subtle sweetness and extra nutrients — this also tends to boost the soup’s color and appeal. For stovetop cooking, make sure to use a pot with a tight-fitting lid to avoid steam escaping. This helps achieve that rich broth without needing to add seasoning or extra water. I also like topping my soup with extra Napa cabbage right before serving for a fresh, crunchy texture. This recipe is ideal for feeding babies and kids since it’s mild and free from strong spices. Plus, it’s a wholesome and comforting meal for the whole family. I recommend trying chicken parts instead of whole chickens if you want quicker cooking or easier serving portions.

Do you need to blanch the chicken first?
